My 7 year old daughter built the majority of this set herself. She needed a little help with the roof, but I was really impressed by her building ability and by the set itself. That being said, there is one major design flaw that we both noticed. The gingerbread woman is unable to use any of the furniture inside and outside of the house due to the unwieldiness of her skirt. We came up with a fix for this and wanted to share. We put the skirt on the gingerbread man. Now the gingerbread woman is able to take a relaxing bath while the gingerbread man rocks the baby to sleep in the crib. She can also take a nice nap while he's feeding the baby. She can sit comfortably by the fire while he makes her a perfect cup of tea, and she can enjoy that tea outdoors at the table while he takes the baby for a walk. Five stars for this set (with this fix)! See our attached photos. Our Christmas wish is that there is a woman designer for next year's set!

Before this set, my favourite was Medieval Market Village, but this set is the sweetest gem in my collection. I was always fascinated with the house of Hansel and Gretel and this Gingerbread house kinda reminds me of it.
It was enjoyable build and I like every aspect of it.
When putting roofs you just need to be careful and it will go without problems.

Best set ever

This is the first Creator Expert build I've done having watched my husband take on a lot - when I spotted the Gingerbread House in store, I knew I wanted it for our Lego Christmas village but also wanted to try my hand at building. As a novice at this level, I found it quite challenging but the sense of satisfaction I got from completing the build was amazing!
I love the little details on this set - the bedding and cushions are tiny bars of chocolate, the bow on the present is a pretzel - and the overall finish is gorgeous. It fits in well with the winter train and winter fire station sets and is a great addition to our village. It has also inspired me to get another set for myself because I loved the process of building it. Thank you Lego!

Beautiful addition to our Christmas village

After buying a lot of Lego for my kids and husband, this was my first purchase for myself. I thought it would be fun to build with my kids (ages 4 to 6yrs old), and it was! My most "active" helper was one of the 4yr olds, who managed to do a lot of it with my guidance/assistance. My other 4 yr old has had a ton of fun playing with the set. 

I've noticed some others have commented that the roof and left wall aren't very secure. We have not had this problem. The whole building seems quite firm and has easily stood up to my 4 year olds carefully playing with it. In fact, I can gently lift the whole house by holding under the roof. 

There is one section that I've had problems with and that is the light up brick in the fireplace. It seems to only intermittently light up. I've just sent Lego an inquiry about this and I imagine they'll be able to help me out with this.

My only other concern is that I wish the baby gingerbread wasn't so small, or that Lego could have supplied two of them like they do with many of their really small pieces. My kids love their cute little gingerbread baby, but I can see it being quickly lost. I also thought it was strange that there wasn't an older child since there is a toy horse and truck and such as gifts.

Overall, we love the set. I think it's adorable and will make an excellent Christmas decoration. The kids and I had a marvelous time putting it together, and they love playing with it. Perhaps this will be the start of my Lego Christmas village?

Christmas Fun!

I was one of those weirdos who didn't buy this set at launch, since it "didn't fit into the town aesthetic." 

Long story short, I bought this a year later and it ended up being my favorite set from 2019. Easily the most unique and fun build of the year, and the final product is a super solid, and eye-catching piece. Whether it's by itself or laid out with other sets, this is a must have!

If you're questioning getting it, I would do it!

Better Late than Never

Was a great build. I didn't find it difficult at all, Not sure why some people had issues with the roof, the roof clicked perfectly. I built it, I don't think my 8 yo son can do some of the parts.
Those who had issues they should probably rebuild the set, pretty sure they missed a step.

Great addition to the village!

I have the whole village collection and of course this one is so special at Christmas!  Brings Christmas right into your home with thoughts of baking and family and friends warm and cozy gatherings!  The BIG downside for me was the disappointment with the baby gingerbread.  This is a SAD representation!  You all need to fix this and send out a REAL gingerbread baby FIGURINE to all the people who purchased this! 
 at the very least make a different one and make them available for purchase............the fact that you call this a "figurine" is ridiculous!

Love it!

I bought this set because I wanted the Christmas theme. I liked the fact that all the smaller separate parts were separate, so my daughter was able to help me and put those together with me. I didn't have any trouble with the roof as I've read in some reviews. My only thing is I thought it was going to be a little bigger. Overall it was a decent set.

Cute set!

I was almost put off buying this because of the reviews about the roof. I ended up buying this rather than the Christmas train because the train track would be too big for my little coffee table. I absolutely loved building this set. It was such fun and I love all of the little touches. The roof was a little fiddly but I found it pretty easy and it all seems sturdy to me. The light up fireplace is so cute and I love the family portrait hanging above it on the inside. I know the windows aren't traditional colours like some people mentioned but I think they are lovely. I can't think of anything I don't like about this set. I'm looking forward to having it out for Christmas every year. :)

Fun Christmas build :)

I built this with my 6 year old son. We love the attention to detail and the mini figures. It's a great addition to a Lego collection especially the Christmas sets.

We found the roof panels easy to build but impossible to attach. It kept pinging off and disconnecting and we have yet to attach 5 roof panels that will stay attached.

Highly disappointed at a poor design that makes it so difficult to do.

Beautiful house - difficult roof to attach

Seems like someone was challenged with trying to make a building using mostly tiny pieces. Yes the piece count is normal for the Christmas village - BUT there are TONS of tiny pieces and LOTS of little pieces made into bigger pieces - more than normal. The building itself is not for play (after you fight and fight and fight to get the roof pieces on) it is too tiny to do anything in the interior. The walls need to be higher 4-6 strips, the floors wider and longer about 6-8 strips. The inside pieces are just squashed together and then the roof is right on top of everything. I will look in detail at next years before buying - as if it's this tiny again, I'll be sad to stop but don't want to fight to build nor see the cheapening out from Lego by making things super tiny. Shame on Lego - charge a bit more and make it right. The chair looks like it's for a giant's house compared to the building!! (the gingerbread man does fit in it) Not like the Santa chair in another one - that chair is size appropriate for the room/building.
