My son is a VW tech, who loved Legos as a child/young teen. He LOVED it! He was totally thrilled and surprised. He's building it with glue so he can take it to work and keep it there. He said his facility has a real one on site, and he was amazed at the accurate detail. Super fun, and challenging for the "big" kids!

Got this for my grandson's birthday.  He collects Lego's and has most of the major sets.  He loves building them.  Wish they would be less expensive so I could purchase more for him.

Wonderful

I have been collecting Legos for 30 years, and this is easily my favorite set. It's the small details that set this model apart from many others, including the piece de resistance: the pop-up roof. I would highly recommend this set to any Volkswagon or Lego enthusiast.

Easily my favorite set ever

LEGO

Been building the Lego Architecture series for a while now, and saw this and thought I would try something different.

Actually loved building this, was fun to do so, and spent a good 8-10 hours on it altogether.

Being British, i decided to build my model as a right hand drive which is fairly simple to do.

For £80 it's a good price, although the roof seems a little bit weak in places.

Would recommend this to a friend anytime. Would be nice to see Lego release a VW Beetle to match this or even an early Mini Cooper.

Fantastic!!

This is the first Lego build that I've done since, oh man.. before I was a teen, but I had a blast working on it. I don't remember Lego being this detailed, but this is over 10 years ago... The detail that is put into things such as the engine bay and the interior of the van and the opening camper roof are amazing. From the opening doors, windows and hatches down to the VW licensing makes this build worth checking out. Made for an awesome day build. Not only that, but upon completion, it does make a great collection piece. I happen to have an older VW camper van on my "dream car" list, so this one will hold me over! Overall, I would recommend this build!

The 1962 VW T1 Camper Van is awesome!

This set got me back into LEGO after a 2 decade hiatus.

Being such an iconic model, the minute I saw it I knew I had to build it.

It took my wife and I about 12 hours and it was a truly special experience, with a brilliant final result.

The only con was the first section of the roof, as it doesn't have the structural integrity I was expecting.

Other than that, A+, I couldn't recommend it more.

Bread Loaf

This set was a birthday present from my kids and I loved it.
Having played with LEGO almost all my life, this VW was a very nice continuation, I guess one is never too old for that.
The T1 Bus set is great, I still like to open all doors and admire the little parts and attention to details.
The only disappointment was that there is no steering but I took that as a challenge and implemented a full steering linkage (I also did that on the MINI Cooper set), see photos.
I hope that LEGO will issue more classic car sets, there is a lot of important cars which should be conserved by LEGO!

Fun with Bully

On recieving this model as a birthday gift from my son.
I was very very pleased that I got this model to go with my vast collection.
But when I had finished building it I noticed that a couple of very important items were missing from the rear of this model.
It is the rear indicactors you put them on the front but not the rear.
I have put them on my model but thought that I would point this out to you.
But saying that it is a great model

The assembly of the VW camper took us about 1 day. It looks great and has really fun features which are highlighted on the youtube product video. However, my 7 yo son started opening the doors and raising the roof and first, the roof pulled off too easily, IMO, then the front of the van, bumper and part with the VW sign just fell off. He's now trying to put the front 1/4 of the van back in place and is pretty frustrated. Also, the dash doesn't click into place, just sorta rests on a base so that's forever falling off. I assembled that part and couldn't believe it just sits there with nothing to fasten it down.

Overall it's a great collector's piece and a lot of fun to look at. However, I don't think it holds together well enough to really play with it. Once you start opening doors, good luck.

Falls apart easily during play

We ordered this for Christmas 2021 and when it arrived there were no Lego logos on it at all. it is a knockoff product. After looking on Legos wwbsite it is a retired product. Buyer beware. Another reason i cant stand walmart.
