A wonderful value for money. The first time I got dizzy in front of the opening of a set. The attention to detail is everywhere: parts, assembly, manual and even box. Everything is a tribute to Burton’s film. The machine is massive, solid. 15 hours of assembly and fun all the way. It only makes me want to see the movie again! Defect level: The vehicle is not a toy and must remain on display on its stand: the weight causes the rear tires to crash and can change over time. Last point, this hideous matte black plate on the roof that denotes with the rest.

The most beautiful Lego set!

I saw this set some time ago online and wasn't really taken, as it looked a bit underwhelming in the photos. But when I visited my new local lego store (Southampton) there was one built up in the window and I just knew I had to have it.

You simply can't appreciate the size of this thing from the photos. I guess that is because there are so few visible studs to gauge scale from. It is HUGE !!! and solid, which is a relief because the LEGO Tumbler is one of my most fragile models todate.

Also while I love the tumbler in real life, because it is a rare batmobile in that it can really drive at speed and 'works', the Tim Burton 1989 batmobile is simply beautiful. Combining hard open tech details, aeronautic flavours and more than a little art deco chic. It was and IS stunning.

Lego's adaptation of it is no less impressive. extracting subtle curves from a system known for being 'blocky'. This is another reason it underwhelms in Photos because you really can't read the subtle artistry in this set.

And the build it self is a master class in so many ways.

I can't recommend this set enough

And I thought the LEGO Tumbler was impressive !

This set is beautiful and exciting to ride. It’s a pleasure to spend hours building this legendary car. The mechanisms work without the slightest hitch and are perfectly concealed. I also appreciate this amazing variety of colors in the hidden parts and which greatly facilitates the locating in the construction and the setting up on the rotating support. The result is impressive and my only disappointment was to reach the end of the assembly so it was taking.

It's been a while since I've done LEGO. In holiday in Japan I visited a LEGO store and couldn't walk out without buying the 1989 Batmobile they came with a limited edition smaller 1989 Bat mobile. I was going to compete the build in one sitting, but I wanted to enjoy the experience. I took it slow and took many pictures trying the build. Instructions were very clear and easy to follow. My partner and I built this together and found it ready to have one person find the pieces and follow instructions and the other complete the build.

I found the perfect size display case that was second hand on Gumtree. It's as if it was destiny.

An exciting LEGO experience

Ever since I finished building this, I can't stop looking at it. The detail work is incredible. I have a small Batmobile Hot Wheels car, and when comparing the detail between the two, it's incredible how much detail the designers captured in this set. It's also incredibly solid, and is easily picked up without the fear of portions of the model falling off. Definitely my favorite so far...

Truly a work of art!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I loved putting together the 1988 batmobile from lego. It was a lot of fun. My kids helped me with some of the build. It came with 26 bags, if you count the bags that were not numbered and had over 3000 pieces. Now if you were to have little kids putting this together, you might want to oversee them. I had very few pieces left over, and none of them big pieces. All total it took me about 12 hours to put together. It even has a swivel pedestal that you can put the car on. Very cool. There was only one messed up piece and that was on the back. They sent me two of the same piece instead of opposite pieces. BUT I love legos and this was a very smooth build. I will definately be getting bigger projects.

I fell for this beauty, what fun I had to ride this beast for me I find that it is the most belle very pleasant batmobile has climbed step by step thanks and good construction. Long live lego.

The second I seen this set I had to have it! Thankfully I received it as a Christmas gift! It is AMAZING! I even played the movie while I was building it. To me, and many other fans THIS is the real Batmobile!! Well done Lego! Keep them coming!

Nostalgia! Wonderful display piece!

Let me start by saying I absolutely love this model and it looks amazing when finished, especially when at next to the Tumbler.

I love the turntable to display the model, that and the minifig stand are excellent additions to a very enjoyable build. I loved the bag per section method and hope that LEGO think about using that going forward. 

This would have been a 5 star review if it wasnt for some of the poor design of the product.There are too many areas where the slightest touch means parts fall off, especially the front and rear of the car as well as the areas around the side turbines. It makes moving the model a delicate operation when it really doesnt need to be.

Beautiful Model but has flaws

The only reason why this has a 1 star is because of the customer service at Walmart. For a $250 purchase, the box came damaged, especially from one side with Walmart tape, going around only once! Even if it was the delivery service that may have caused this problem, Walmart didn't take extra precautions to insure the quality of their product.  It was so bad, that even the customer service rep at Walmart couldn't believe how badly damaged it was.  I would really be cautious in ordering something from Walmart, especially a high value purchase.
