This set is a true joy to build. The exterior is incredibly accurate and there are numerous fun details on the interior. It would have been nice to have more minifigures, however, the detail provided for the exterior more than makes up for it. To be clear, this is really a display item more than a play set. 

This set truly becomes magical when you light it up!!

This set will remain built and displayed for year to come. Make sure to get one before it is retired!

Light Up Magic!

LEGO

We went to Disney a few years ago and this build brought back some good memories. This was an awesome build full of intricate detail that really brings it to life. I really enjoyed the detail on the entrance and the clock tower! Just an all around awesome set. Over the years I have added some more characters to the build but definitely worth it! I would absolutely recommend this set to any Disney fan! ( I would also recommend the new Winnie the Pooh)

Magic Kingdom

When I first saw this set on the website I couldn't wait for it to come out, although I was a little hesitant about the price. Being both a Lego AND Disney fan there was little doubt that I would eventually purchase it, but if I needed any convincing then seeing the completed model in the Lego store convinced me to buy it early on the VIP program. It really is an impressive model in terms of size and detail, and you really appreciate the complexity of the build during the making process (it took me 12 hours spread over 5 days). There are so many neat features - the references to various films (Frog and the Princess, Aladdin, Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty, Fantasia, Tangled, Snow White, and Brave), the beautiful tiled flooring and columns/arches of the lower ground level, and the hidden enclosed glass slipper in its case and 'once upon a time' story book. The number of mini-figures is disappointingly low given the set's price tag, but if you have already purchased series one of the Lego Disney mini-figures, these easily fit in and enhance the model further. Tinkerbell can be made to fly over the castle by using elements ID 99785 (1x12/1x2 bar with end-plate end) and 15712 (plate 1x1 up-right clip) and is worth doing. This really is a fantastic set and Lego have done a brilliant job in recreating this iconic Magic Kingdom castle. Let's hope more iconic Disney buildings are to come in the future e.g. Epcot's Spaceship Earth?

Christmas came early!

I am a big Disney geek so this was the perfect product for me this took me about 7 hours to build over about 5 days doing it section by section to make the fun last as long as possible. The castle now sits in my sitting room for everyone to see. I would recommend this to any Disney fans especially if you want a bit of a challenge . I also loved all the little details that reference lots of different Disney movies too! As the title of my review said I LOVED IT!!

LOVED IT!!!!

I enjoyed the Disney Castle build tremendously. Within each bag there are special references to many different Disney classics and finding these Easter eggs is so fun!  I didn't like that being Cinderella castle, her slipper and fairy tale book are hidden. I made a little stand with the extra pieces to display the glass slipper on ground floor under the chandelier.  The Little Mermaid kitchen reference needs a crab instead of the extra pot/pans. The details on the outside castle are amazing and I loved learning new Lego building techniques to help create such simple but effective details. If you are a Lego and Disney fan then this set is a must!  Have fun!

Filled With Disney Magic

This is an incredible and awesome set. 
The overall shape is excellent and the engineers did a great job matching it to the real Cinderella castle. The back side of the castle is as detailed as the front, with all kinds of rooms for the mini-figures to play in.

Since this model is correctly scaled to the mini-figs, it towers above any other Lego sets.

However, I have a possible complaint: it seems like there are a lot of left-over pieces. Is this normal for a set of this size or did I screw something up along the way? I can understand including some extra little pieces since they can get easily lost, but this seems like a lot. 

I also wonder why some steps require two pieces where one would work fine. For example, why does the model use two 1x2 plates instead of one 2x4 plate? Are the 2 pieces cheaper to produce than the 1 piece? I hope this isn't an artificial way to increase the number of parts. 

As a warning: this model becomes very delicate, especially the upper tower sections. Make sure the upper floor and upper tower are securely locked into place before moving the castle. I found this out the hard way: when I picked up the the castle to move it across the table, the tower fell off and broke. Then again, these are Lego bricks so it's not that big of a deal to rebuild the broken section.

An awesome set

As a big Lego fan and even bigger Disney fan this product is worth every single penny. The neck ache and tired fingers are very much worth it too once you see the finished results. There are lots of little hidden surprises which make it difficult to stop building. Once you've built it, be prepared to have it up for a while. I completed mine a few months ago and don't have the heart to dismantle it. Everyone who visits my house (both adults and children) take great interest and always get a guided tour of castle, always ending with a grand finale of the fireworks!

Well worth the money.

Gotta say as a Disney Princess fan this was a must have! I did think it was a bit pricey but after spending the amount of time building it, it was totally worth it!! I do think i would have preferred a few princesses with it but I'll do well with what I have! I would have preferred there to be a door on the balcony so that it the characters could go outside. I do have to say it is most definitely my favourite lego piece and will get pride of place in my living room.

Loved loved loved this!!!

When I first saw this advertised, I knew I had to have it, being the big Disney fan that I am. However, when I saw the price, it did put me off abit, but then I asked my partner to part buy it me for Xmas and I put the rest in. Problem solved! 
Having not played with Lego since I was a kid, it was a bit daunting to see all the bags and the thickness of the manuel, but once I got organised and started building it, I actually found it quite easy to build. It took around 14 hrs to build, though I did it over several weeks, spending a few hrs at a time on it. 
The attention to detail is amazing. The picture on the box does not do it justice. I love all the film references, the secret compartment and being able to shoot 'fireworks' , though watch where they land as they do shoot out quite fast and being so small, can easily get lost.
Only had one disaster..lost the transfer for the mirror so had to improvise and use some shiny silver card which I think looks quite nice. You can probably request a new transfer though. 
The only downside for me was not enough figures. For the price, I would have loved a few more characters, especially Cinderella, seeing as it's her castle. But I found some (unofficial) lego princesses on line quite cheap which I added to the castle (along with flowers) and plan to add more characters in the future. 
Overall, a joy to build and now has pride of place on my dining table. :)

A joy to build

This set is a major one, and every serious LEGO builders should have it. Very massive, heavy, beautifully done. However, I would have like to get more minifigs with this colossal set. A few more characters that are important to the Walt Disney universe. But the major problem here, is the many many many missing pieces. What is happening to LEGO ? More and more big sets are missing several pieces. LEGO should take a serious look in their factories. Especially the factory who is making the sets for North America. Read the comments and reviews on this site but also on forums and socia lnetworks. More and more sets are missing a lot of pieces...........

A masterpiece, with many missing pieces......

In the past, I have been pleased with the durability of the constructs, allowing children to play and move props and characters around. The haunted house construct I built 3 years ago continues to stand allowing children that come to my office to play and interact with it.

The castle, however is a different story. It made a beautiful Christmas display, but even my 6 year old granddaughter was afraid to play with it, noting the rocking of the tower whenever she tried to move something. The tower has a tendency to topple off the balcony base, breaking up in the fall.

I would recommend more joining blocks to attach the tower to the balcony base. I plan on buying these blocks and replacing the smooth blocks with joining blocks. Not sure this will be enough to keep it together when played with but worth a try after all that work.

If the piece is for display only, I would recommend it. Just don't let children get at it!
