I've always wanted a LEGO advent calendar, and this set was the first one I wanted enough to buy. I LOVE the ornaments, and I really hope I'll be able to add more ornaments to my LEGO Christmas tree year-after-year. Thank you LEGO! Excited for December to begin!

Wow! 24 different mini-models here! Some are really cute. There's even a tiny tic-tac-toe game and a signature model for each Friends character (see guitar, roller skate, trophy, camera, and microscope!).

Looking at other reviews here, I didn't see it mentioned that this year's Friends Advent Calendar has more than DOUBLE the usual piece count (500 vs. 215 or so). I imagine this is because minidolls are one of the most expensive parts that LEGO makes, and they aren't included this time. Personally, I have no problem with that. This is a different play experience than in the past. Instead of building a tiny scene with the Friends characters, children are encouraged to build life-sized ornaments to decorate their tree, or other space. 

I imagine this "shared crafting experience" (similar to the 41346 Friendship Box) may encourage kids to pull out their spare bricks and try making more decorations of their own designs! I appreciate that the wide variety of colorful parts included are generic enough to be re-used throughout the year — add them to your other sets or build more original creations!

LOTS of parts to decorate your tree with a friend

We've never purchased a Friends Advent Calendar before because of no interest in the Friend Dolls figures (I have boys). This year, the idea of a new ornament to put on your tree each day is great! Bought this for the family in general because they won't be played with, but adorning our tree and adding to our LEGO ornament collection. Looking forward to it :)

Ornaments, how fun!

I was starting to grow weary of the Advent calendars. I've purchased the last three City calendars, and wasn't looking forward to another mini Santa and some tiny race cars. Having the build be ornaments as well is such a game changer. This more than makes up for the lack of minidolls. I'm super excited for December!

I always choose between Friends, City and StarWars advent calendars every year. Usually City wins. But this year the Friends calendar is the one to pick in my opinion. It has over 100 pieces more than either of the others and every mini build is designed to act as a tree ornament, just thread some string through and there you go. 

I must admit I'm not a fan of mini-dolls so the fact that this doesn't have any is a bonus for me but I can understand why people are annoyed about there not being any. The City and StarWars ones both come with several. I do think that this should have at least one exclusive printed figure. 
If the StarWars calendar came with an exclusive printed figure I'd buy that hands down but this year it's Friends all the way.

This years no brainer...

Having bought at least one of the Lego Friends Advent Calendars literally every year since the first, I'm a little disappointed with this set. I do get that the theme does not form a complete Christmas playset this time, however the generic theme of "Xmas toys" is a bit too loose/nebulous for a 4-to-7 kid to get much use out of beyond "oooh, cute."

Next year, let's get back to crafting a working playset over the course of the month please.

...but where are the minifigs?

I didn't really look at the calendar this year before purchasing. And if I had, I likely wouldn't have purchased. We prefer the scenes that have come in the past. My daughter even commented that the scenes were better because you could play with it afterwards. She enjoys building and we are displaying on a tree but after Christmas, the pieces have no real use which is disappointing.

Disappointed

City and Star Wars both come with minifigures . Why aren't there any with friends? There also used to be accessories - like skis? How about a pet or 2? Cute designs for just hanging out with Classic Lego boxes, but not enough for an advent calendar. How about some new calendar themes- jungle, elves, animals,harry potter, racers? Where is your imagination?

Why no minifigures?

I have a girl and a boy, and my girl is so disappointed. There are no mini figures in her calendar, and the things you can actually build from the calendar are too large for being played with combined with the lego figures she already has in hand--why? Because lego figured that girls were to build Christmas ornaments this year, instead of playing with lego. So this calendar is basically just a box with Christmas ornaments. My son has the city calendar and plays with all the exciting toys he gets, while my daughter gets to build a Christmas tree ornament and that's that. Why does lego do this to girls? Girls want to play too! Wish I had baught city for my daughter as well, so she too could play with her calendar every day.

I regret choosing this for my daughter

We have purchased every Lego Friends advent calendar and this is the first year we are disappointed. There are no Friends in this set. There are no pets in this set. There is no scene to build and interact with. It's a new ornament to build each day. They don't even come with a string or hook to hang them on the tree. My daughter is so disappointed. Not what I expected from Lego. Will be looking closely at future sets before purchasing.

Imagination is lost
