I've had this set for about a year now and it's definitely one of my all-time favorites.  A very fun build and the ship itself is very sturdy.  My little niece loves it so much even though it's meant for adults.  She fell in love with the red astronauts at first sight lol.  So many fun details this set is amazing it is worth every penny!

The Galaxy Explorer is easily one of the best sets I have ever owned. The level of detail is amazing and there are some building techniques used that were very creative. The set is very easy to play with AND display. I'm the type of lego fan who prefers play over display, and this set knocks it out of the park in both those fields. I only have two problems with the set. One: The beginning of the building process. I am a pretty good builder and can build technic sets without a problem, but something about the building process of the technic frame rubbed me the wrong way. And two: there is this one large plate on the underside of the ship that occasionally pops off. It's easy to get back on but can be a bit annoying at times. Luckily it doesn't happen often. Aside from those two problems, I would recommend this set to anyone reading this review! The price is incredible for what you get (especially with these new lego prices) and is amazing for both young and older lego fans. And for once there's NO STICKERS!!! 9/10 would recommend!!!

Incredible set

I'm glad to have been able to share this set with my kids. Growing up my brothers and I had parts of the original Galaxy Explorer in our bin. I never had the opportunity to play with the full set as those parts were older than I am. This set gives me the same feeling I had as a kid trying to copy the original with what I had available and no instructions. My kids love it, and while they're a bit young the ship holds up well to rough play. I need to buy a few more sets to build the alternate ships. My recommendation to LEGO is to continue with reimagined retro sets, because if they're like this new Galaxy Explorer they're going to be amazing!

My favorite set

This set is filled with the magic that the licensed sets have been missing.  Pure imagination.

The ship itself is really big and solid.  There is no fear or parts falling off.  It's so swishable I can't pick out up without switching it around some.

I underestimated the size based on the pictures.   It feels like I got my money's worth.  

Now I want to build a whole moon base for it.

True Lego Space Set

I was eyeing this set up for a while then finally bought it to build while away on holiday and I wasn't disappointed...
Fun and satisfying build from start to finish and perfectly fits in with the rest of my Classic Space LEGO collection.

To be honest I might buy another two to build the alternate 924 and 918 builds.

Galaxy Explorer: The build is out of this world!!

I'm an older, Classic Space fan and have the original Galaxy Explorer along with several other classic space sets and base plates. As everyone else is saying, this is a excellent homage to the original set with a bit of a more modern lego twist but still faithful to the old school build and pieces. It's like the original ship but on steroids with so many cool little details that build upon the original ship but flesh the concepts out in a more modern and fresh take. For the purist, there's nothing overly elaborate here, there's a good weight toward classic pieces used throughout with a portion of more complex Lego parts and pieces but it still feels firmly classic. The build is very imaginative, clean and solid. I absolutely love it. Kudos to Lego and the designers for making something truly special, a huge bargain (roughly twice the size of the original!) and a perfectly fresh homage to the original ship!

Fantastic!

I just had to get tho set as it is a homage to the 1979 set. Building this model was an absolute joy and took me right back to being that 6 year old child building the original set. This set has some really nice touches and would highly recommend adding it to a collection. Just wish I still had the 1979 original as they would incredible side by side.

Nostalgia in a box

While I am not old enough to have ever had the original version of this ship, I can absolutely appreciate the nostalgia of it. From the use of only a few colors throughout the build (no garish colors, even if they would never be seen), to the Classic Space crew, to the design in general, this set is just awesome. Value for money is excellent, especially these days. This ship is solidly built and definitely swooshable. It looks good, I would say, from pretty much any angle. And its just good, old-fashioned LEGO. Bravo for these reimagined classics, LEGO!

Just wonderful all around

The size, the build and the finished product, this set is utterly amazing!! 

I've wanted it ever since it came out, but never got around to it, then I found it on sale right before it was going out of stock everywhere and decided I'd get it! Best decision ever, I broke it open already excited and started to build! The way it came together and the techniques were absolutely flawless, everything fit perfectly and the angles and designs were so simple and elegant, by far the most satisfying set I've built! 

Not to mention the neat features! The sliding door was a pleasant surprise, but I'd say my favorite had to be the sweet ramp with the buggy! You don't normally get this many well thought out features with a set of this price but this was a different story! 
I'm so happy with my purchase, it was a rejuvenating set to build, and it's a wonderful addition to the collection! Can't wait to show my friends and family!

FAVORITE SET YET!!!

I don't think there's much that I can say which hasn't already been said by others, but I couldn't resist buying this for myself with some birthday money while on holiday. It was a really enjoyable build over a couple of evenings, with my son joining in before his bedtime and helping. I like that there are no stickers to apply with some special exclusive parts not available elsewhere. I still have the original 928 set which was bought secondhand for me when I was young and this is a worthy tribute, at a great price, I would highly recommend.

Excellent value for money

Got all the way to bag 6 and just couldn't take the darn thing falling apart any longer.  Finally something fell off that I would have had to dismantle half the build to repair so in disgust I pulled it apart and threw it in the box.  Why should we have to keep putting the same things together over and over again until the very end when supposedly it all stays together.  It's not in the dumpster yet but I'm awfully tempted..........
