It took us a couple of years to save for this item but worth every penny. The joy my kids will have trying to assemble it will be worth the wait. A bonus was it was delivered before Christmas. It took fedx a couple of tries but finally after calling them on more than one occasion they finally delivered it to the right house... Thanks again for making it available online Walmart. Great Set for the Star Wars Fan

Order came in earlier than expected. Son was so excited. Very good price and box was in pristine condition when I picked it up.

Great Deal and Fast Delivery

this was a birthday present for my 10 year old son and he absolutely loves it and in the process of building it as I type!

He Loves It!

My 10 year old son received the Death Star for Christmas. His grandma and I went in together on it with the understanding that he wouldn't receive as many gifts as usual if he received that expensive one. We kept it a surprise and he never saw it coming. He ripped off one corner of the wrapping paper, saw the picture of the Death Star and ran across the room to hug us -- screaming and cheering the whole way!

As the one who put most of it together, I can see why the age recommendation is 14 or older. The instruction booklet was enormous! Each page shows which pieces to use and how to put them together. Having never done anything like this before, I appreciated the detailed instructions and really enjoyed putting this giant puzzle together -- more so than my son. (Just a bit overwhelming for a 10 year old to do completely on his own when all he wants to do is play with it).

The set came with 4 sweater-size boxes with numbered bags of legos in each one. It was easy to keep everything together if you only opened up the bags with 1 on them and put those all together. Then worked through all the bags with 2 on them, and so on.

The movable parts are my son's favorite things. He also loves watching the movies and pointing out the Lego rooms that he has just like in the movie. You can hear him in his room daily playing out scenes with his amazing Death Star. If you can afford it, it's worth it.

I would recommend buying it when you can get free shipping. I looked everywhere trying to find it for cheaper than $400. They were all within a few dollars of each other, but Walmart had free shipping and turned out to be the best price.

High price but worth it

We got this for my 11 year old son for Christmas. He said it was the best Christmas present ever. It would have been nice if the package in which it was mailed did not say "LEGO" and "LEGO Death Star" on it. This is because my son saw it sitting on our front porch after it was delivered (three days prior to Christmas).

Great if you can afford it

My grandson had been wanting this Lego for so long so when he got a little older I bought it for him. He is beyond thrilled and thinks it's the most fun he has ever had putting together a Lego. And I think it was well worth the price.

What can I say about this set.....WOW!!!!!! Due to the high price of this set, I almost didn't purchase it, but thanks to a couple of Wal-Mart gift cards that had gone unused, I was able to pick it up without too much damage to my own pocketbook. Now that we have the set and have spent some time with it, I can without any doubt say that this is the best Lego set I have ever seen. If you and/or your kids are fans of Star Wars and Lego, you won't regret making this purchase!!

I bought this set as a project for me and the kids to build together, and build time is a little over a week to finish it up using time in the evenings and on weekends. An adult builder/collector could finish it much faster, but the slower pace of having the kids "help" is worth the extra time and patience required on my part. I do think that most kids will need at least a little adult help with the set, so expect a family project if you buy this for your kids.

As for the product itself, I can't say enough great things about it. First of all, it is HUGE!!! Once it is built, the Death Star takes up quite a bit of space....but I could see it being a cool display piece if you have the room for it. Second, the attention to detail in the design is staggering. There are so many little details that fans of the Star Wars movies will recognize during the build. This set also comes with 24 (!!!!) mini-figures, so along with the different "rooms" that are built into the Death Star, you can re-create in Lego-style pretty much all of the memorable scenes that took place on the Death Star in Episodes IV and VI. Everything from the trash compactor (along with the monster), Obi-Wan's disabling of the tractor beam, Luke swinging across the chasm with Leia, the Imperial "conference room", Darth Vader and Luke's final battle in front of the Emperor....I could go on and on -- it's all here!

So with all of that said, this is a great (if not THE great) Lego set. If you and your kids enjoy Legos and are fans of the Star Wars movies, this is a great family project. The price is high, but it is in line with normal prices for Legos -- considering the size of the set and the number of features/figures included, the price makes sense. There is lots of replay value here, and the "WOW" factor is about as high as any toy I have ever seen!

Best Lego Set Ever Made!

Walmart should be ashamed for sending this toy without putting it in a box. You just slapped a label on the Lego. It arrived with dented, ripped, and dirty packaging--not ideal for a Christmas present.

Walmart's irresponsible shipping

This was a great toy with a ton of parts. When we put it together we found we were missing a bunch of the logos.
