Building Experience

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This has so far kept my little boy busy for a little while. Not sure it is for ages 9+, my little boy is 7 and is managing this fine on his own. He is was having great fun playing with each individual toy that he has made and fun playing with them as a whole once he had made them all. It was great that it came with 6 characters, he had plenty to choose from. So far this has kept his interest for the last few weeks.

Sonic raider

So, 10 years after ninjago began, we get a remake of one of the more iconic vehicles. I have no copy of the 2012 or 2016 ones, so I will not compare it to that. 

The minifigures in this set, are mostly new for me, as I don't actually own any legacy ninja aside from Kai, who came in the Clutch powers set (still amazing to finally get him), and the Tournament of Elements Lloyd, from the Jungle Raider. But, these minifigures are stunning, with two great hypnobrai, and the golden Zane Legacy minifigure. However, one issue I had with this set, was that Legacy Zane has a titanium head, despite not getting that head until Tournament of Elements. (I thought it was a nod to the fact that his face is destroyed partly in the battle against the great devourer.) Other than that, the minifigs are great. 

The Raider itself is a nice size, and unlike the first one, disassembles into four vehicles. The two tread bikes look slightly odd on their own, but the functionality works well, despite me repeatedly shooting the spring loaded shooters, but I have that issue with every set. 

The Jet is the main thing I have an issue with, as the mechanism to deploy the wings breaks fairly regularly, but is easy to assemble. And the connection to the bike doesn't feel sturdy, but I have managed to pick it up by only the jet, so it is assured to be sturdy. 

Now, the big bike at the centre is one of my favourite builds, as it occupies the first two bags, and looks good on display, with a bit of stability issues on it's own, but it makes it easier to pose and less worry about knocking it over. 

The build process consists of bag 1 and 2 building the main bike at the centre alongside cole and Golden Zane. 3 builds Kai and one of the snakes and the right bike, with 4 with Jay and the left bike. Bag 5 and 6 build the jet, Legacy Zane, and the final snake. 

Overall, I would recommend this set, as it is a stunning build, with few stickers, and is very displayable and storable, with great playability. I spent a while after and during building recreating battles with the ninja, and the snakes, with Zane unlocking the scroll of forbidden spinjitzu.

Great Set, good to build, very enjoyable

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this last week and I thought it was gonna take my days to complete, but no the instructions where very easy to read and it only took me around 2 hours to complete. My son absolutely loves it! Highly recommended.

Amazing

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My son was blown away by this set, absolutely loves it!  It was an easy build, yet challenging enough to keep interest.  He said the little cars that attach the body to the wheels were a little difficult to put on.  He loves all of the mini figures and especially the golden one!  This is a unique, fun vehicle and he loves this set!

A new favorite!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So I got this kit for my son who's 7 but very good it Lego and making up the kits. It took us quite a while to make up as it was complicated for him but he is slightly younger than the recommended age. He did manage it fine and the over all making of it and experience was amazing .The main design separates off in to other pieces , a plane , motorcycle and other vehicles. He mostly keeps it complete as it's his favourite as he loves what he's made and is proud of it and frankly it looks awesome! 
The pack has 7 Lego characters that fit inside all the sub designs , which makes playing with the whole set more fun. 
He has spent hours making it and hours playing with it.

Great bit of kit !

It is easy enough for them to put together and even includes characters to play with as well. The quality is excellent and you get your moneys worth as well. This is a great kit for any kid that loves legos. It definitely does not disappoint.

Great Kit

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My 13 year old is still into Legos and absolutely loved this ultra sonic raider. It's pretty big so it did take him a few hours to assemble it all but directions are very easy to read and it's pretty sturdy after being built. Love Lego!

My son got this Christmas Day and it's a great build HOWEVER it's not really playable. I spent the whole Christmas break repairing it multiple times a day. The mechanism at the back that makes the blades come out falls apart at the slightest touch & it often falls even more apart as I put it back together. I might have to resort to kragle!

Prepare to constantly fix it

I personally think that Lego really missed the mark on this set. As an owner of the other two Ultra Sonic Raiders, this set does not compare to them at all. Instead of trying to improve the original set, like the other Legacy sets, this sets tries to improve the Ultra Stealth Raider, and I still think that THAT was significantly better than this one. 
    The only attraction I have to this set is the golden Zane minifigure. When it was leaked that there was going to be a Legacy USR (Ultra Sonic Raider), I was ecstatic. But this, this has let me down tremendously. The Price is on the higher side, the minifigures are alright, good if you want to get all four original ninja in one set. But the build is flimsy and poorly made. The main feature of the USR in the original set (not to mention, the show,) is only the seperate jet at the top. This set also has the side bikes, something that wasn't in either the original set nor the show. This did appear the the Ultra STEALTH Raider however, but that set did a significantly better got at producing the feature without the expense of the bikes' sides looking ugly. I feel that any other Legacy set from this year is a better value than this one. For younger audiences, this is an okay set, but for older Ninjago fans and builders like me, this set is a real let down design wise, price wise, and accuracy wise.
