Can be sturdy, but also prone to fragility.

Provides a fun and challenging building experience.

Offers good value considering experience and quality.

This Lego set is not so simple to build and requires a lot of attention, which makes it nice for any patient and rigorous adult or teenager. It's really nice to see how some elements come together when at the beginning of each construction part, we wonder a little what will become of it. Obviously, to keep this surprise, you have to follow the construction guide in order;-) The final rendering is beautiful and it is a beautiful and imposing object of decoration that finds its place next to others from the Star wars domain. On the other hand, there is a difference of scale with the C-3PO (set 75398) which is a bit of a pity. In any case, you will have a good time setting up this set with patience and meticulousness.

Beautiful and technically interesting

LEGO

This is my favorite Lego experience. I really loved this construction. There’s everything I like about it: difficulty, attention, precision, no weariness of repetitive assemblies, etc... You really feel concerned from start to finish. I’m even intrigued by the idea of starting this experiment again and offering myself a second one in the future... Congratulations to the designers! Total success...

Great!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought for my husband as a Christmas gift. He absolutely loved it. He finished it in 3 days. It was cute watching him geek out and be a little kid while he was putting it together.

My husband loves it

walmart.com

This was a great buy. The details and final product is amazing with moving parts adding interest. Certainly brings back childhood memories as you build. Love Star Wars and Lego have certainly got R2-D2 spot on.

Childhood memory build

Well it was a very interesting build out of Lego I have ever done there was some confusion in some of the stages but soon as u over come the confusion it comes together I must have been the only person to be missing a few bits but I ordered them for free from the site and once I had them I finished my build this morning.

Good build

The designers of this beautiful model force respect. This R2D2 is full of ingenious mechanisms that make it possible to replay many scenes from the movies. The little camera that R2D2 comes out in the swamps of Dagobah, the cover for Luke's sword on the barge of Jabba, the retractable tools in front, the tripod that R2D2 uses when it rolls, even the two small panels that open when it takes an electric shock ... Despite a respectable size, its clutter is quite small and it took place easily on my desk. Extreme care must be taken during the construction of the frame and mobile mechanisms, otherwise you will have to reverse at one time or another. Fortunately the package leaflet is of high quality and very detailed. This is a true little masterpiece that I highly recommend to fans of the saga.

Beautiful model full of surprises

This is an amazing set, it's a pretty good size, has very cool features, and it's just R2. I do want to say that this is probably not the best set for a beginner. However, if you are somewhat experienced you should definitely pick this up. Overall a very cool set.

Amazing set

I am very impressed with this R2-D2 set. Having been somewhat disappointed in the sizes of the Star Wars helmet series, the size of R2 was much better than expected. A few things that would have improved the set would have been wheels (so you could roll R2 around improving the playability), having the "head" actually attach to the body but still able to rotate 360 degrees, and curved/rounded pieces to build a more domed-shaped "head". Overall, this one ranks in the top 3 Star Wars sets I have.

One of the coolest sets!

What can I say, love lego and the star wars lego for this set alone.

It's perfect the look and details of this set. The leg comes shooting out from the bottom of R2-D2 when you tilt him back. The only thing you do have to make sure you get the correct colours of the interior mechanism the right way round to make it work and yes I wasn't looking and had to rebuild part of it.

It's 330mm high and 200mm wide so it's quite large but not too big.

It now takes pride of place in my display cabinet with my other UCS lego sets.

My Lego R2-D2 makes me smile

I love LEGO and I'm a big Star Wars fan. This set was like the perfect combo of both worlds. The set looks gorgeous in my studio, however I don't think I will ever move it. It is very flimsy and the side panels are a pain to fix. I had to go back to bag 2 to readjust everything.
And no, I didn't make a mistake. The side panels "hang" with pins which are attached to small plates. They detach VERY easily from the large plates. Very painful to fix and they can easily get loose with minimum manipulation. I don't think this was the best design in terms of sturdiness. The play features are there to be used but I'm not taking the risk. It will stay in my shelf forever.

Beautiful to display, nightmare to handle

I got to step 11 after having to fully deconstruct the build 2 times from the point of bag 9 back because the middle foot wouldn't drop out when he leaned back because the tecnic disconnected inside. When I finaly got the patience to move forward on the build I open bag 11 and i am missing all 11 dark blue 2x1 tiles. I bought this set for my birthday cause I've been wanting it for over a year and it's been nothing but a headache. Look in the bad reviews and see that this is a problem lots of people have had would've thought that lego would've fixed that issue by now regretting buying this.

Missing peices and confusing build
