Building Experience

For Collectors

The new packaging for the 75181 Y-Wing is awesome. A box inside a box! And the multi-lingual forward in the instructions also adds to the collection factor.
Assembly is somewhat difficult as most of the pieces are small. 
There is what I would call an easter egg during the assembly: On page 122 there is a missing Brown 4L bar. Compared to page 118 on the other side of the fuselage. But in the extra pieces there is an extra 4L bar that you can use.
I assembled our 10134 UCS Y-Wing to compare with the new one. Both sets are awesome! The Y-Wing has long been my personal favorite Star Wars spacecraft.
Nothing bad to report...Good Job Lego...Please release more UCS Star Wars sets more often. Maybe 2-3 per year?

UCS Y-Wing 2018

The Lego designers def learned from the Snowspeeder's build shortcomings, the y wing is solid tip to tail. The amount of detail put into it is fantastic and will look great w the rest of my UCS builds. This thing is huge, 24" long and 15" wide. My only two complaints are how the tail fins go on, they are very loose bc they don't fit in the holes well (holes are too small) and I imagine they will need to be reattached at some point. My other complaint is the stickers needed on the body panels and cockpit controls. Printed plates would have looked so much better. Overall, I'm happy w it

THE Y-WING!!
- Very structurally sound

Tho...
- I ordered from the Lego shop online. The y-wing box was slightly crumpled on two edges. I believe this was the couriers fault because I heard a thumb of Lego pieces' on my front door step just before he knocked. Not careful with my parcel.

1 SOLID SET!!

The level of detail in this set is amazing! The build is incredibly fun as well, especially the engines. The new design is light-years ahead of the older UCS Y-Wing.

As usual, UCS sets are meant to sit on a shelf. This set is really solid however, and I admit I did some swooshing before putting it on display. Highly recommended for any collector or Star Wars fan!

Fantastic Display Model

This set is beautifully detailed including details for the underside. The underside is not as detailed as the top but I am super excited to see the underside not ignored. 
The ship is also amazingly scaled and shaped, it is highly accurate to the size dimension for the minifigures. There are a couple of areas that aren't quite right, but honestly would be extremely hard if not impossible to accomplish without new pieces. The set is extremely solid and sturdy and "swooshable," though a bit heavy for that.
The set pretty much has no play features except for moving the gun turret. It would have been kind of cool if they could have added in a bombing play feature, but only if it didn't detract much from the look of the set. Overall it is an excellent display piece a good build experience and well worth getting.

When I saw a reveal of this set, I knew I had to have it. Had a lot of fun building it. 
The Starfighter will be displayed at my office.

AMAZING!!!

Brought this for my 19 year old son. Came well packaged and on time. Spend time doing this and enjoys showing us the progress. Loves lego and always easy for me to buy him some - just running out of show space.

Star Wars

This is a very well designed and somewhat large model of the Y-Wing. The details are very nice. 

My only real objection are the cockpit stickers. I didn't bother using the side stickers on the cockpit because it looks a bit awful. The cockpit should have been pre-painted with proper borders around the windows panes just like in the movies. Otherwise, excellent model.

Wow - very nice

This set was fantastic. So much detail and so much clever usage of pieces. An ice skate and a bullwhip on a spacecraft: awesome!

I was initially dismayed at the size of the bags for each number (as I typically build Technic sets), but boy howdy was each bag a challenge with pretty much the right number of pieces for one nightly session. 

I've gotten a lot of complements on the model at work. 

The price was a tad high for the piece count, but that's just how it is with the Star Wars (and particularly the UCS) sets. 

Now please bring back a UCS Star Destroyer!

Outstanding set, gorgeous model

Absolutely enjoyed it! In my opinion the best Star Wars plane to date! Hope Lego makes more planes with this level of details in the near future. 

Would be good to see an A-wing and U-wing UCS set, can't wait!
