I scooped this set the second it was available as I've been highly anticipating it. Price is a bit steep but the build is such an experience!! The technicality that went into creating this set was so thoroughly thought out. The movement of the head, hands and the tail that moves as well! Once the head tilts the fireball comes out. Facial expressions may also be changed by moving the eyebrows and eyes. All in all, it was an extremely fun set to build and play with. Finished the build in one day. A++ and highly recommended for any Mario fan

Absolutely Incredible

This is a set that keeps getting better the more you build on it. The ah-ha! Moments follow one after another into a crescendo of bliss when the pieces finally fit together perfectly. I was constantly murmuring ‘how in the…', ‘no way…', ‘this is brilliant…' the entire build. 

Lego has truly outdone themselves here.

Ps my daughter especially loves it when I puppeteer the bowser (which is incredibly easy to do) with her princess peach.

Absolute best Lego set. Period!

One of my favorite builds to date. While not as technical as some like the technic R/C cars I've built, it is one of the most fun to build with the puppetry aspects that have been incorporated into it. I hope to see more like this in the future with other  characters.

Lego gets an A+

Even us forty, um, something-ish kids.  The space ship was great, the helicopter was phenomenal, the Delorean and Optimus were remarkable, the loop coaster is a blast, but Bowser, he's MY favorite so far this year.  A blast to build, solid as a rock, beautiful to display, and easily customizable.  This guy has a forever spot right next to the block, the NES, and the TV.  He's a masterpiece.  He's MY favorite :-)

Every Kid Has a Favorite

I love Bowser and when I saw this set I needed to have it. I was a little skeptical of the price but after actually building him, he is 100% worth it. 

He's huge, sturdy, and really true to form. The added articulation in the arms really adds that extra oomph. And the mechanics for moving his head are delightfully well hidden. The base has a couple of neat features too! I had a lot of fun building this and if you're a fan of Mario or just well designed sets, this is for you.

The Magnificent Bowser!

Bower has always been my idol.  When Lego previews the Mighty Bowser, I know I need to get him.  
He is a real fun to build.  He is big and chunky, expressing the power of Bowser so well. I particularly marvel at the intricate mechanical details of his arms and head.  Just wish that his arms can be posted at more positions!

Bowser Rocks

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] [Employee of lego-global] At first, upon announcement I wasn't totally astounded by this set. The design and piece count were attractive but for the price I was interested in other sets over this one. However, after having had the chance to build it, my eyes have been opened. 

Not only is Bowser awesome to look at but the expertly designed Technic sections allow for puppeteering that is unlike any other set I have built before. The build itself is incredibly satisfying and uses some impressive techniques to create the shell and moving limbs without being too repetitive. There's also a couple fun secrets for anyone who gets the chance to build it. I highly recommend this not only to Mario fans, but anyone looking for something completely different from a LEGO set. After building him, I feel emotionally attached to him and am starting to think he's not a bad guy, just misunderstood.... 

Overall, if you have the budget for it, I can't recommend this highly enough and hope people don't pass on it. My hats off to the extremely talented designers, you've outdone yourselves!

Best set of the year, and then some!

Did anyone else receive an incorrect piece in their set?
I received a 1x2 dark stone flat plate instead of a studded one. 
The flat plate is not even listed in the parts list, so I'm not sure how lego put the incorrect piece in the set. This was in Bag 18.

Incorrect piece in box

I'm an 80's baby and this piece is a great addition to my NES piece.  I am disappointed in a few things though - I do not have any of those add on pieces that come with the digital interactive Mario or the other characters, nor do I intend to purchase  those.  TO have the digital interaction feature with Bowser seems silly if it's not going to include a character that will interact.  I do agree with others that say this price is high but what do you expect from a Nintendo licensed product?!  The build was fun and I love the final product.  I do wish in the instructions when you are building (like the arms in this instance) that they tell you 2x at the beginning of the next 20 steps, not at the end.

Childhood Memories

Well despite it being so darn expensive because it's a Nintendo licensed product I still would give credit to Nintendo they aren't as crazy as Disney that's for sure. The play features on this guy are pretty cool and he's massive, heavy and bulky not gonna lie and if you're a collector, a Nintendo, super mario and bowser fan you're gonna probably love it as well as I do.

Is it worth it?

hopefully inside is fine, but the box i purchased for $300 came dented, and had marks on it like it had been thrown. theres white marks on it too. its just very disappointing to not see it in precision condition when you are spending hundreds of dollars on a product.
