I received product reimbursement in exchange for my honest review. I cannot wait to gift my nephew with this Lego Technic Airbus Helicopter set. I think it's so cool that this set not only will this set challenge him, but also that it includes a motor for the blades to move. The pieces are bright, colorful, and high quality. This is perfect for any Lego builder in your family!

Great gift for any Lego Fan

walmart.com

I received product reimbursement in exchange for my honest review. Wow, wow and wow! This was by far the most complex Lego set I have ever had and it's been fun. It has its own motorized piece which is so awesome. It is labeled for ages 11 which I think is appropriate for the intensity of this build. I am really enjoying building it and anybody who likes a challenge would love this set regardless if they are truly into helicopters or not. I am still in awe of this set. If you're on the fence, I say go for it and enjoy this!

Wowsers!

I received product reimbursement in exchange for my honest review. I LOVE this lego set! It is so much fun to build and it is a huge piece. The instructions are very clear and easy to follow. I like that each step has its own bag so its easy to find the pieces you need to use. It is a lot of fun to build this lego set and the pieces are all high quality.

Easy instructions!

I received product reimbursement in exchange for my honest review.

This set is awesome. The complexity seemed daunting when we first opened it, but my 12 year old and I were able to assemble it with out much trouble. When put together, the helicopter is actually pretty large, which we like. Just note: you will need to buy 6 AA batteries separately.

Very cool!

I received product reimbursement in exchange for my honest review. This kit is huge! I love how the book it comes with is very descriptive and helpful plus each bag is a new task so it doesn't need to be opened all at once. We just started building it and it's so great to help my son when he needs it but just watching him have so much fun is the best part. The pieces are such great quality and I'm really excited to get it done and attach the motor.

So many hours of fun!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Came promptly and the box was undamaged. Great set for older kids who are more interested in the technical aspect of Lego due to the great motors included. Also scored a great deal on this.

Lego Airbus Helicopter

As a retired Army officer and helicopter pilot, I couldn't wait to try this build. It was very fun to build. I made a mistake along the way, so when I finished the winch would not work. I had to de-construct it down to the second section and start over because the gears are all in the core of the helicopter. It was fun to build a second time and after the second time everything worked fine.
I agree with some reviews that point out the retractable landing gear does not hold up very well. It does hold up satisfactorily for display. I don't think rigidity of the tail boom is a big deal. It is well secured, so I feel no worry that it will fall off during play.
I know Technic models are not completely true to life, but I would have liked for them to put a windshield in so it looked a little more realistic.
All in all it is a great build. It is great to help kids (big and little) understand the workings of a helicopter. The cyclics and collectives do move the swashplate realistically, though not very pronounced. I look forward to showing it to my grandkids to play with.

Great Technic Build

LEGO

I absolutely love this Lego set, I'd even go so far as to say it's my new favourite! The finished model is visually stunning and extremely detailed. The colour scheme is great, the new luminous yellow is a fab addition. Although the set is just over 2000 pieces, the build is incredibly complex and took me 28 hours, although I did make a mistake on the gearbox stage which I had to go back and correct. There are some very fiddly segments to construct, but hardly any repeated methods. The motorised features are glorious! The spinning rotors add to the realism of the model. The winch works well, as does the retractable landing gear, although the landing gear shouldn't be retracted under the weight of the model, as the

What a set!!

From bag 1 to 5 the build was amazing. I'm absolutely in love with the entire experience.

I'll start with the building time, which took roughly 8~ hours. (Split between two days.) bags 1-3 took the most time, having to gear and build the main parts of the rotor was the hardest and most time consuming.

I highly recommend any builders take their time, missing a piece with something so complicated could end disastrously. I also think the building (and understanding) of the complicated internals of a helicopter is something to savor.

The finished product (like mentioned by many others) is huge and heavy. Swooshing is pretty fun, but there's a lack of places to hold. (With the weight I don't feel safe swinging it around by the tail.) The winch, wheels, and rotors spinning and working with the motor makes “flying” the beast a blast.

My biggest complaint would be the lack of yellow pieces. I would've loved a more “rescue” orientated livery, the white and red is a little plain.

Amazingly Complex and Great Show Piece

John

Definitely need to pay attention to each step as some parts are very complex but its a rewarding build.

I like that you can open the top white canopy to show off the working internals for the blades as the controls are rather clever.
Very heavy set especially with the batteries in which the instructions have you put in from step one.

The sliding door setup is similar to the old 9396 model but imo lacking in thought as they easily catch in sliding.
As another review mentions the hail is a little on the weak side but we're not really supposed to pick this up by it i suppose.

The lumious yellow pieces were a surprise as i thought they were going to be normal yellow.

Fairly challenging build but fun

Elisa
