It has its own motorized piece which is so awesome. It is labeled for ages 11  which I think is appropriate for the intensity of this build. I am really enjoying building it and anybody who likes a challenge would love this set regardless if they are truly into helicopters or not. I am still in awe of this set. If you're on the fence, I say go for it and enjoy this!

I love how the book it comes with is very descriptive and helpful plus each bag is a new task so it doesn't need to be opened all at once. We just started building it and it's so great to help my son when he needs it but just watching him have so much fun is the best part. The pieces are such great quality and I'm really excited to get it done and attach the motor.

This set is awesome. The complexity seemed daunting when we first opened it, but my 12 year old and I were able to assemble it with out much trouble.  When put together, the helicopter is actually pretty large, which we like.  Just note: you will need to buy 6 AA batteries separately.

I received product reimbursement in exchange for my honest review. This is by far the most impressive lego set my family has ever worked on! Wow! The box is huge and the the helicopter is so extremely detailed it is unbelievable. There are motorized functions that require batteries. The recommended age is 11 and up and I would definitely agree. my nine year old helped but I could easily see it being too complicated for a younger Lego fan. Very nice set and I plan to purchase another for a Christmas gift for my nephew.

I received product reimbursement in exchange for my honest review. this set is awesome. I helped my child build this and it is so much fun. the rotors spin, the landing gear comes down, and more. the technic legos are really cool.

From bag 1 to 5 the build was amazing. I'm absolutely in love with the entire experience.

I'll start with the building time, which took roughly 8~ hours. (Split between two days.) bags 1-3 took the most time, having to gear and build the main parts of the rotor was the hardest and most time consuming.

I highly recommend any builders take their time, missing a piece with something so complicated could end disastrously. I also think the building (and understanding) of the complicated internals of a helicopter is something to savor.

The finished product (like mentioned by many others) is huge and heavy. Swooshing is pretty fun, but there's a lack of places to hold. (With the weight I don't feel safe swinging it around by the tail.) The winch, wheels, and rotors spinning and working with the motor makes “flying” the beast a blast.

My biggest complaint would be the lack of yellow pieces. I would've loved a more “rescue” orientated livery, the white and red is a little plain.
