Extraordinary Set

LEGO

When I was a kid I LOVED Lego. It was all I ever wanted as a gift. I got made fun of a lot and eventually, I stopped. I years later finally remembered that Lego was a thing and that, now being an adult, I can buy them. I have bought a couple of other sets, but I decided to go all out and buy this. It has been one of the stupidest, but next financial decisions I have ever made. I am so happy with my purchase. It is the most joy I have felt in a long time. There is many more to come. Thanks.

Being a kid again

Everything works fine as well as no problems with the build ! Love them both ! Hey Lego, can you built a model with Caterpillar or John Deere branding? We in the USA are big Lego fans and we can associate with that more than Liebherr (but we know Volvo cars mostly, not construction equipment). Great fun overall !!

Love my Liebherr & Volvo

I loved the ride. A real pleasure. Once connected to the phone, it is necessary to take the time to understand in order to be able to manipulate the machine. Once taken in hand it is simple. The thing that disappointed me was that it lacked lighting. I recommend it

After the Hogwarts, I didn’t think I would build such a complex and impressive set. And yet this behemoth of more than 4000 pieces has taken on a new challenge. It is from the third part that the whole becomes complex, it is necessary to be very concentrated and precise in the laying of the parts. Indeed, I found myself several times putting coins upside down or in the wrong place... Once finished, we get an imposing, impressive machine and we are proud to have put so much sweat and energy to build it! For the Control+ part (on smartphone) we are really at a higher level compared to Power Functions and it is really fun! Finally, we have the possibility to manipulate the machine remotely and in a much more precise way. I recommend this set for fans of the Technic range. This is a great piece to have at home absolutely.

The whole unit itself is amazing. Nice toy to play with, if you want to "attack" your other Lego sets :))
The only small issue that i could find at this set, it was the tracks - they are a bit loose and by that, the whole unit moves a bit slower.

Good, could have more

This Liebherr is just perfect, it exceeds my expectations by a lot, having a lot of big tech model I was hoping to have a high level of challenge, mission accomplished this is not a model bought if you are beginner because it is very complex and hyper well done, with the application I am surprised of everything that can be done with, the application is intuitive and proportional so a very high level of precision in the functions I loved the hours of this gigantic kit and highly recommend it

Exceeds my expectations

This set is very rewarding once complete and working properly. Make sure you complete it before testing it,or try connecting it to the app... the only thing about it is it moves very slow,but i can imagine the real thing would be slow moving for what it is.the only thing that i wish this set had was the rubber track studs from the boost creative toolbox set 17101 to help it move better on hard surfaces.other than that,awesome set! (Works with Samsung Galaxy Note 9)

Sweet!

After having already made a lot of LEGO TECHNIC (BMW motorcycle, imperial bus, Aston martin, Porshe, Bugatti, Land Rover...), the Liebherr excavator was the manufacture where I took the most pleasure. I am looking forward to a new LEGO with 4,000 - 5,000 pieces.

Highly rewarding build. I took my time and had a lot of fun putting this set together. The bucket open and close function could be better and I wish the app would allow for some manual tweaking of the calibrations and speed reactions. Otherwise great. Looking forward to more great Technic sets this year!!

Awesome Set

Excitement quickly turns to disappointment. When I first saw this set, I was very excited to build and share this experience with my young grandson. My grandson loves “diggers” as he calls them and was very excited to help grandpop build this set. Although, too young to build this set himself, I built the set completely, then removed a few pieces so we can complete the set together. 

The positives with this set are few compared to the negatives in my opinion. The set is large, well designed and interesting to build. The control app works well when used with a tablet. I made sure all motors were connected to the Bluetooth controller before testing which worked well.

On the minus side is the set was missing parts to complete the build. The parts missing were cosmetic and did not affect the function of the build. Lego, please don’t tell me “Usually they're found stuck in the packaging or hiding on the floor!”. I can assure you they were not included in the set. Stickers on a high-end set like this; really? What good is a set like this if you cannot play with it? The drive system is significantly underpowered. The loose-fitting tracks only add to the issue, jamming frequently. The model is easily impeded by short pile carpeting as the drive motors strain in agony. In my “play” case a couple of corks stopped it cold when I was trying to pick them up in the bucket. The boom, dipper arm and pitman arm work well, however, the bucket closure drive train over travels and the application is unable to calibrate for the situation.

My wife watched as we played, then asked the cost of the kit. I answered her question, she paused and said, next time, just put the money into his 529 plan, and she walked away. A smart woman she is.
