[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Getting use to it.  I miss the digital input to set the desired time rather than keep pushing the + key.  Other functions are tolerable, it's going to take time to adjust to its operation.  I'm almost 72 and a little slow on the up tick!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The sale price at Target brought about a double take from both of us- $60 off? Only $99? I usually love my LG stuff, but I wasn't in the market for a new microwave. I didn't necessarily like the one I had, but it was working fine. But a sale price like that to get a microwave that matches our range and fridge? Phew.. this (over)analyzer needs to think. I finished my shopping, thinking about the LG one, slowly convincing myself it's ok to buy something because I like it and want it and THE SALE! We buy it. Bring it home, set it up. This was smaller than the one we had (why it needed to be bigger than plate size, I'm not sure), the updated digital display was pretty and the buttonless front with the slidey time adder was COOL (yes of COURSE that's what the manual calls it!?).  I ran a lil cycle, just to make sure it worked; a pretty cool blue light lit up the insides, and when it was done, my gosh! the tune it played! I felt like it was a carnival song and I was overjoyed! Well done, you!
  Then it came time to actually use it.... We quickly realized that we cooked things "on the 5's" (I actually would pick random numbers, like a minute and 14 seconds instead of 15 because I'm edgy like that) more often than we realized; with this microwave it only counts in 10 second increments. So that was a bummer. This next part may not fully be the microwave's fault- we tried to reheat a plate of dinner. The previous night we made meatloaf, corn, mashed potatoes. With our previous microwave we would plate it all up, stick a wet paper towel over the top, heat it up for a couple minutes and it would come out steaming hot. Like you had to let it sit a bit and then make sure you blow on it before biting into it hot. With this one ... After three 2 minute sessions, power on high... the plate was mildly warm in some parts and still cold in others. It was disappointing to say the least.
    Now here's where I am hesitant to place blame- my significant other refused to use the reheat options. He is a chef and therefore knows better. (Yes I understand the irony in this) so while I think we could have at least TRIED the reheat options, it is this woman's opinion that's why they're put there, apparently those options are put there by the company for people who "don't know how to cook" (or so says the man of the house). We ate lukewarm "ruined" dinner that night. (Even tho I offered to get the other microwave from the basement.) 
   We also discovered after dinner this microwave was only 1000 watts, whereas our old one was 1460 or somewhere around there. So that is probably part of the problem. Now that I'm thinking about it, this is probably a microwave for college kids, or you know, for "people who don't know how to cook"..    
I still love you LG!!

It is okay but there are several things that I'm not crazy about:

The large expanse of black glass and the bands of stainless- though attractive- get very dirty very quickly and need constant cleaning.

It says in the manual that when not in use a glass of water needs to be left in it in case it is accidently turned on. Turns out, because of the way it opens and the placement of the 'start button,it is very easy to accidentally turn it on. 

The glass turntable is set above the microwave floor as opposed to (like the Panasonic microwaves) being set flush with the floor. This means that it is very easy to bump the edge of the turntable when loading it which can cause spills.

It plays a 'song' when finished instead of a simple 'beep' which it repeats if not opened immediately. Can be very annoying.

The settings seem complicated and are a bit fiddly to use.

Had I not been restricted to size I would have bought the Panasonic and been much happier...

It's okay.

With so many ovens to choose from, every detail of a product should be well planned. I think LG missed important details when designing the control pad. The printing of the control panel is in low contrast to the background, so you need direct light to see what to press. Also, in an effort to offer automatic tasks, there are a number of combinations you have to input to find the task you want. I can handle it, but people who have trouble understanding machinery will become frustrated.

I like the LED lighting inside, and the oven is relatively quiet.

One oven in a crowded field

I loved the microwaves simplicity and flush face.  It had some really cool feature like LED center lighting and clever chimes.  But unfortunately the heating element stopped working and nothing would get warm.

sleek and modern look if it lasts

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this about 2 months ago to tide us over temporarily until we can get a new over-the-range Microwave to replace a broken one.  It has been disappointing.  It is difficult to see the controls because of the black surface of the oven, and setting exact times and power levels are difficult.  And it is taking much longer to heat and cook foods than it should.

Disappointing

This microwave was very good at first. Unfortunately, not even a year later, it no longer works. Customer service could not do anything while for such a device of this brand, it is expected to perform beyond 1 year. I was disappointed.

Note: We're working with LG to replace this microwave under warranty. It's possible that it's defective. If it's not defective, it takes a really long time to heat water/leftovers compared to our last Sharp 1000 watt microwave.

We're also not crazy about having the controls behind the door. It's a sleek look, but not super convenient. The interior of the microwave is also very dark, so it's a lot more difficult to see how things are going inside: we can't see bubbles in boiling water, or melting cheese, for instance.

Wanted to like this

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased this less then a year ago and the last time my wife used it the heating element started glowing and sparking.

I bought this microwave about 3 weeks ago. It was easy to set up and easy to use. It does play annoying music when it's finished rather than beeping, but that's just personal preference.
I do find it takes longer than I'd expect to heat up certain food items but otherwise no issues so far.

Good microwave for the price
