I have been using this monitor going on 3 years. It is useful for running virtual teams meetings and viewing code which consist of 99% of my work day in software engineering. I purchased BenQ RD monitory specifically for coding and most say I still prefer this form factor. They should being this back. I want a new one.

Like many others I'm wondering why this was discontinued. I've had mine for a couple of years and love it. Was hoping to buy another but can't find them anymore. Such a useful form factor, especially for a wing monitor.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Over the past three years I've spent the majority of my work life at home, largely due to the pandemic but also because my work gives me a great deal of flexibility in my choice of working location. I've used several different monitors over this time, ranging from ultrawide to multiple standard-aspect monitors, but they've never quite been as good as I'd hoped. This monitor, though, is nearly perfect. From being able to use as two unique stacked 1440p displays for screen sharing or as a single, giant display for a giant Excel sheet, to the massive amount of articulation for the display, it is really great. It's easy to set up and easy to use. 

Pros: 
- monitor and stand has significant amount of articulation - can be used vertically or horizontally 
- built-in USB hub
- HDR support
- able to charge your laptop using the USB-C cable
- KVM built in, allowing you to control multiple computers with a single keyboard and mouse
- Excellent cable management 

Cons 
- I can't seem to get KVM to work between Mac and PC and I can't find any documentation on the topic

In short, if you're looking for a solid, versatile monitor for work I or home I can't recommend this more strongly.

Fantastic for Productivty

As a developer I like my monitor in portrait mode, but I've always found traditional monitors too narrow for the way I work.  The DualUp monitor looked like it would solve that issue.  I'm happy to say it meets my needs perfectly.  I plan to purchase a 2nd one in the comming weeks.  I'll keep one in for coding in, and the 2nd will be used in PBP mode to serve as 2 monitors for my email and other secondary content.

One of my better productivity improvement purchase

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This monitor has the perfect resolution for me, especially as a software developer. I have mine rotated so it's slightly taller than it is wide, but the almost-square shape is unique and perfectly suited to my kind of work. It also has a number of kick-butt features, like a built-in KVM switch (I frequently switch between computers while working), PBP mode, etc. The mount stand is also of high quality and has a professional, sleek finish. Love this product!

Best monitor I've purchased

If I could get my employer to buy these displays it would compliment any work/home desk.

Work life balance many things in one Display :)

The 28MQ780-B "DualUp" 16:18 aspect ratio monitor is one of my favorite displays for productivity.  It has a fantastic desk mount solution already included that has full motion articulation and is simple to mount to the back of a desk (or through in my case using a custom hole I already made.)  The sharp display resolution is perfect for creating a crisp viewing experience and it is fairly readable throughout its entire height.

Inputs are good; it has the typical HDMI, DP, and audio out (it also features built-in speakers, but they are limited in capability.)  It also features USB-B and USB-C connectivity.  Admittedly, I didn't use the USB-C so cannot comment on it, but I believe it passes through video and even the USB-A ports on the display all through the single cable.  I mostly use this with a desktop, so wasn't too concerned with minimizing port usage.  

I will make one note:  I prefer to run it in 18:16 using my OS rotation settings to rotate the image 90 degrees instead of the normal 16:18 it was meant to run at.  On my desk the pseudo (lol I typed sudo originally....) 4:3 aspect ratio feels much better to look at and I don't struggle to see the top edge as much from a normal seated position.  It feels more natural.  


LG, if you are listening and want to do a 2nd generation!!!!!  Please consider 18:16 aspect ratio as the default!!!  A lot of the reviews below seem to have already discovered this as well and I do agree; it is the better layout!  If anything, offer us an option in the display menu to force the rotation of the UI as it is a bit weird operating it on its side.


I love this display; it is great for Excel and programming of any kind as it shows way more information than any normal display could because of its fantastic dual 2560x1440 resolution.  I know we moved away from 4:3 in favor of 16:9, but this totally makes me wish 4:3 (or some variant close to 1:1 would make a comeback!)

Love the 18:16 aspect ratio (when rotated)

I bought two of these a couple of years ago for a dual monitor setup. One monitor still works well. The other started failing about 6 months ago with intermiten flickering and ghosting.

The monitor displays ghost images from previous days, including when the screen should be black. I've confirmed this persists across ports, cables, and systems. My second identical LG 28MQ780-B unit does not have this problem. This appears to be a panel or T-Con failure.

Bought 2, One Failed

Never could get the lagging software to work so went to Symless Synergy which makes the monitor work with my other monitor alongside.  The KVM switch is a joke and does nothing.

If you're planning to grommet mount this monitor, through holes in a desk for example, do not purchase. 

I purchased 3 monitors and all the stands come with a screw locked in to stop the bottom half of the clamp from coming out. These screws are in so tight they are impossible to remove even with a drill. I tried everything for multiple hours to try and get these screws out and eventually had to saw off 2 of the screws by hand just to get the bottom half of the clamp off.

I don't know why these screws come locked in so insanely tight but it was like this on all 3 of the units I purchased so can likely guarantee it'll be the same on any unit purchased, so don't bother unless you have a saw and a few hours to spare.

It's a real shame because the monitor itself has been great but this is a fatal flaw in the stand that has caused so much frustration getting them set up.

Do not purchase if you plan to grommet mount
