I bought this item to replace a non-functioning drive in my computer. Now I can play DVDs and CD  discs again. And burn CDs. It works as advertised. Very easy to install. No problems. I would recommend this item to anyone needing an external DVD- CD drive.

does what it's supposed to, works well. compatible with Mac OS X Mavericks, no installation necessary.

My internal superdrive on my MacBook Pro 13" failed, and I was past the time of AppleCare. I needed to rip approx. 2000 music cds. This drive is working beautifully.

Bought this to use with my Mac Mini. Plugged it in and worked great, nothing to download, OS recognized it and was able to read and write. Highly recommend this if you have a Mac.

Works Great with my MAC Mini

I had absolutely no problem connecting the disc drive to my computer. It readily loaded & was immediately ready to use. I have both played & ripped music, and it works perfectly. I haven't done anything with dvds yet, but LG is a reliable brand, so I'm sure it will work.

Very easy to use

Product works as advertised. Maybe a little flimsy, but you should be handling CDs/DVDs with care anyway. Plugged it in and it worked right away on my Windows 7 Lenovo laptop. The bonus was that I saved over $20 by buying it via the web versus buying it at my local Walmart and I was able to pick it up at my local Walmart anyway.

Cheaper on the web than in my local Walmart store

This is a great little product. It fires up fast with little drive download time required. I haven't written with it, but the playback from DVDs is great. It didn't take long to ship to my home either. I did rip a CD for my daughter to digitize for her, as this was a cheaper method than purchasing a CD player. Very happy with my purchase that I can use long into the future.

Love it...

Worked right out of the box on our IMAC. Absolutely no problems. It is very fast and slows down on bad spots on the DVD. Somewhat delicate. Cannot handle rough.

This drive worked well and played the CD's/DVD's without a problem. I was using Windows 8.1. However the software was an issue. I could not uninstall anything. The software kept putting my computer in a loop when trying to uninstall. It was a real problem. I had virus protection on but it was not a virus. There is something wrong with the software. I had to go to Microsoft and trouble shoot then download special software to remove the software that came with this drive. I am well above an average computer user and my knowledge is good. There is something wrong with the software that comes with this drive therefore I cannot give this above a 2 star rating.

Player OK Software Problem

I suppose if all I wanted was something to watch movies on this would be fine. As I use it for work, transcribing audio/video, constant stopping and rewinding, it wears out very fast. This is my second one in less than a year. I'll keep it as a backup but have replaced it with a more expensive player.

Minimalist

I bought this online,picked it up next day at my local store....what i paid for it was great,but brought it home,tried for over an hour to get it to work.i was not even a plug and play,it had a disc.said it was installed and still wouldn't work.it wouldn't work from the get go.needless to say...returned it for a refund...Worst item i have ever bought from Walmart.com hands down...people,if you want a good DVD Writer/Burner ....get a Lite On..their products have never failed me.lite On is even Plug and Play.as in,you plug it in and works right away,no installation or disc.Stay away from LG..100% they do not work.Hope this helps.
