Great external drive.  I have burned both Dual and Single layer DVDs with it in the Windows environment.  Couldn't get it to burn a dual-layer in Linux, though.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this a couple months ago and it has been working flawlessly, 'cept for a small tiny detail. Yesterday it sent me a message I didn't take too much notice about something concerning to the Power2go software and when I tried to burn a new DVD it changed the burning option from the name of the Optical Drive to Image Recorder DVD 5 or 9 and the PC froze. I had to reset it and change the burning method. I have no complains up to this day except for that one and I have to say it's a really great OD, reliable and fast.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This unit fulfills my expectations completely. Slim, having dimensions of a CD case, requires quite a small footprint. The installation could not have been simpler. Remove it from the shipping carton, plug in the USB cable, insert the installation disk and within minutes I was playing a DVD. The software provides viewing/writing capability and also contains file backup to preserve computer file. I am thrilled with this LG DVD/CD player/writer which I use with Windows 10 on my desktop computer.

The size of a CD case

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this a week ago and had already burnt some 10 DVDs with it. It is indeed noise-less and very light-weight and that's where my problem is too.. The product is very prone to damage as the plastic feels flimsy and easily bendable. That is the only con. I love that it requires only one USB port and not two like some other brands. Works well on my LG 3D TV too.

Great value for money

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As title states, this portable drive works well for burning/playing audio CDs.  I have no yet tried to burn DVDs.  As portable drives go, it is delicate and should be handled as such, but it works well.  It is attractive, however, I deducted one star because I think a matt finish would have been more appropriate for something that is handled a lot.  Finger prints show all over the place, and I imagine so will scratches that might happen.  Mechanically, so far, I rate this A+.

Works well for Audio CDs

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Works just as needed. Just plugged it in and that was it. Got it for my custom build (W10) and barely notice it sitting on top. Only 'eh' problem is that its a popout tray which has fragility issues over time.

Works like a charm

I bought this product with the idea that I could play a DVD.  Inserted a disc after installing correctly, and only the audio would play.  Tried another DVD and still could not get it it to play.  It's not as simple as plugging in and "deciding what to do with the disc." Have some feelers out to some friends to figure out why I cannot get it to work.

Can't get it to play DVD

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far I've had a couple of issues--one particularly important for me: 1) the write speed seems slower than indicated by X__; 2) if burning a file that requires more than one blank disc to complete . . . it simply re-burns the first part over and over again, asking for an additional disc to be inserted ad infinitum!

Not bad . . . EXCEPT

This device worked fine out of the box the first time I used it. Every time I have tried since (using the exact same computer), the computer can't even recognize the drive is connected, much less do anything. I cannot run the update software because it cannot find the drive. The drive does not appear in my Device Manager on Windows (I checked every single subcategory in case my computer accidentally classified it as a keyboard or something weird). To my computer, this thing simply does not exist. The cord works, as the drive has power, but the computer cannot see it. I am beyond frustrated that I spent money on this thing.

Worked once and never again

I bought this a little under 2 months ago, and it worked great for about 2 weeks. I bought it for my acer chromebook so that I could view jpeg files and do my homework for school. I was able to use it for about 2 weeks and then it stopped working. The disk just spins and will no longer read. I starting thinking there was a problem with my chromebook, which I bought at the same time, so I had a friend use it on her Macbook (She has used mine previously, and it worked fine). The drive didn't work on hers either. I am just so annoyed because I made sure that I bought a chromebook and an external drive that were compatible for school, and now I'm back to using the school's outdated computers that are usually broken. The price was reasonable, but not worth 2 weeks of use. I do not recommend.
