Netflix

I love this unit.

Easy to set up.  Discreet.  Quiet.  Bright.  A pleasure to use and really delivers an at-home cinema experience.

HOWEVER...

Why they'd CHOOSE to region lock-out the content at the Web App store, is beyond me.  I've got a European model which won't allow the Netflix app in Spain, even though Netflix is thriving here.  What the heck?  Don't give me a 'region' excuse either, LG - Netflix is everywhere.

Great. But....

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The image quality is great, you´ll never complain about it. Better if the room has no light sources. The bluethootch connectivity is a plus, because the speaker is not the best, so you´ll for sure need a speaker. The problem I found is that you can´t use Netflix or Prime Video App. They are not included nor available to download from the LG App store. I ended up buying a Chromecast to see my series.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I did not really know what to expect from this projector since I can admit I am far from an expert . I always wanted a theater system and figured I would try this one strictly for the 30000 hours of bulb life and I didn't have to mount it across the room . To tell the truth ,, the picture is amazing ! Works well with fire stick and Nintendo switch . A draw back is the sound but I'm getting a surround system for that . And it has limited 2 hdmi jacks and I have 3 game systems ,, but OVERALL!! THE PICTURE QUALITY IS UNBELIEVABLE!! Does okay with somewhat rooms with sunlight but in a darkened room it feels like you are in a theater .

My First Ever Projector

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have no problem with the unit's performance...works fine. What would be nice is a recommendation for a good screen to show it on. Also, a micro adjustable table (all angle) to place the unit on to ease alignment issues. We do it by hand and that works, but a proper platform would be better.

Performs well

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great product, I am using it instead of a TV in my bedroom with an 80 inch image especially because it has a great TV tuner that captures signal with a small HD TV antenna.
The speaker is small but has a good range of frequency so extra speaker can be avoided if used in a small area. The colors and clarity are great given it is only a full 
HD. It is a short throw so within about 12 inches of the wall the picture is fairly large without diluting color or clarity. I don't use any screen but just used a plain wall. The picture is,anageableeven during the day although not optimum.

But the major gap is there are no most commonly used apps to download making this like a 2014 era product in 2024 although it is wifi enabled. This limits its overall value..

Great little ST projector.

I have been very happy with my LG Short throw projector. Picture quality is great, it's easy to use, although predictably my MacBook doesn't gel with it, which is inconvenient. Still it's thumbs up from me

Impressive picture quality

I just bought this an mistakenly assumed that with the LG Store and Web Browser that it work with 2 of the biggest content providers - Netflix and Amazon.  It doesn't and so far I am unable to get an answer (from the LG site) if there are any updates coming for the Browser or LG Store to resolve this or if it will be resolved.

HF65LA Doesn't Work with Netflix or Amazon

The HF65LSR is fundamentally broken. It is impossible to run it in full brightness mode/energy saving disabled without the entire picture taking on a heavy green tint due to an issue with the WebOS implementation on this device. LG are aware of the issue but have no intention of resolving it, as such the advertised brightness is not available for use. 

The 38CM claim for a 100" picture is misleading in the PR images as it is 38CM from the rear of the projector not from the lens assembly or front panel as the PR images indicate. For a 100" picture you require over 68CM total and at this distance, coupled with the inability to disable power saving and utilise the advertised brightness, means the image is not bright enough to be acceptable in anything but a completely black room.

The last firmware update also broke the ability to enable or disable TruMotion, which in itself was broken previously only being accessible via a sub menu of another setting, it is now impossible to disable this setting and as such every source looks overly processed and smeared.

Finally despite the advertised features of WebOS, the inclusion of the "magic remote" and some PR images showing Netflix and similar running on this projector there is no Netflix, Prime or Now TV app available for it and I have been told there are no plans to release them. As such the smart features of this device are extremely limited.

Fundamentally broken and not fit for purpose.

Had around 18 months of good use then had issues with the mirror. This is a common issue looking at reviews. Unfortunately, the projector will become a brick due to the cost of replacement parts and labour—such a waste for a potentially great little projector. 

It would be great if LG had an easy solution to replace the very delicate mirror.
