My 7 year is struggling with reading in first grade!! I bought her this less than 2 weeks ago. She picked up Caseys Cat Had A Hat book. Listened to it about 5 times. Now, she knows the entire book except for 2 words. Amazing!!
She just moved onto the books The Best Pet and Fix-It jobs. Highly recommended for anyone struggling to read!! She loves doing this now every evening. Where before, reading was a struggle.

Awesome Product-Highly Recommended

This was a gift I had sent to my 6 year old grandson for his first year of school. During a visit with him he had his mother write me an I LOVE YOU GRANDMOTHER note. When I asked if he wrote it, he said "I can't read yet." When I saw this book series on line, I felt it would be a great help for him.

My son says, "Tee uses it all the time."

My grandson is starting to read he can read some of the books by himself he's doing very well I know what leapfrog is I had that with two of my older grandkids especially my grandson that went to school on a full scholarship but he was just smart anyway but I want him to be a better. Thank you

Great

This product is awesome. It kept my 3yr old engaged. She loves the talking pencil. The words are large enough for her to see ,read and spell. I would recommend this product.

All 3 of my daughters love this pen, they have been taking turns and are eager to learn thanks to this. I may purchase another so that they can have their own.

Definitely worth the money.

My daughter is 6 years old in Kinder, she asked for a toy that help her get smarter and chose this one. I like that she has fun learning and enjoys an educational toy.

It's a great device and user friendly.

Excellent product. This book collection is not only educational but it gets kids excited about reading. And it can be used on or off line. We use it off line and it works great!

Happy little reader

I like that I did not have to download each book like the old pen. I love that you have a choice of having the pen read the story, word or sound out. I do not like that after you have the pen sound out it reads the word, not allowing the child time to process and then repeat the sounding of the word. I like that the words that are rule breakers or not basic phonics have a yellow box around them so the child knows not to try to sound out. This is not something you can just hand your child and walk away from without any teaching until the books have been all taught and learned and you have them reviewing.

Great practice once taught the book your working o

Review:
Do not buy the LeapReader if you own a Chromebook. LeapFrog forces you to use their ancient, decades-old "LeapFrog Connect" desktop software, which is completely incompatible with Chrome OS. There is no mobile app or web-based alternative to download book audio.

To make matters worse, they don't even bother pre-loading the audio files onto the pen's tiny storage drive, meaning you are forced to hunt down a Windows PC or Mac just to make a children's toy function. On top of the completely outdated software ecosystem, the hardware relies on an old, outdated charging cable instead of modern USB-C. LeapFrog is cutting major corners at the expense of parents. Save your money and buy a modern reading device from a company that actually updates its technology.

: Total waste of money—unusable on modern computer

I have a new Mac laptop and was not able to get the current version of leapfrog connected to my laptop.

As I was thinking through it, I didn't want the four year-old connecting with a device and so buying this product, kind of defeated the purpose of what I was trying to accomplish with getting them to read independent of a device.
