My 3 year old loves it.  It is helping her learn to write her letters and numbers.  My 6 year old even gets in on the act. It's really too simple for him but he likes to play with it .

Good buy

The moment this came out the box, my 4 year old preschool was anxious to try it out and it won him over big time. My son is having challenges with writing and drawing and this tool definitely is helping in just a few days, from learning the proper way to write letters and numbers, to learning how to spell and draw shapes. This tool is a must have. I gave it 4 stars because I have 3 small cons, the packaging is a struggle to get through. Took me about 10 minutes to get the toy out the box. The pencil is hard to remove from the holster. It really locks in there. My son struggles getting the pencil out. Lastly, the pencil is position more so for right handed people. My son writes with both hands at this point as he is struggling which hand he is most comfortable with, but he hears himself towards using his left hand but he struggles with that strong being in the way and getting the pencil to position correctly when using his left hand. I think these kinds of tools should have options for lefty and righty users.

I'd wish the screen would light up a bit brighter for easier use.

Pencil's and scribble

I bought this for my 4 ur old granddaughter. She really loves it. My complaint is the screen. Its small but the format is very hard to see. The manufacturer should make the screen light up like a computer screen. The background is gray and not lit so therefore with the writing and pictures being gray as well its difficult to see. With this little tweak, the scribble and write is an great way to help teach children how to write ABCs and understand the vowel sounds.

This would be so much more amazing if it had a back light .... why are leapfrogs electronics like this in our day in age ?!? 

Would recommend because it helps them to write by letting them trace bs just showing how and has interactive little pictures but it is very disappointing that a bright light must be available or it can't be used ( no night time car rides with this learning toy)

Are we in the 90's?

The toy itself is good for toddlers and easy to use. But the screen is way too dark and you can barely see it. I'd return it if I still could. I like the learning that it provides but it's just not functional if you can't see what you're writing on.

Screens too dark

It would be so much better if it had a backlight for the screen. It is very dark and hard to see unless you are under a bright light. But I gave it 3 stars because my 4 year old grandson has been enjoying playing with it and it was on sale for $18 dollars :) but I definitely wouldn't purchase it again.

Disappointing

you cannot even see the screen with brightness all the way up.   disappointed for a leapfrog product

screen too dark

The brightness of the screen is very very low and you can't even see what your kid is writing there  plus very small screen size.
