Putting Together

Construction

There are some interesting building techniques here, such as he construction of the red curtain. The back images in these sets are an interesting way to add additional points of interest without having to fiddle with stickers, although there are some stickers for paintings.

I like with the Slytherin set how the bottom two triangular sections can fold in and neatly touch the back to make the set stand on its own with clean 90 degree angles. This set has detailing on the middle section that sticks out, blocking this. -- If that detailing was 2/3rds of a block high, the triangular sections would have fitted neatly under it.

The detailing on the crest is interesting and works for the most part. The only bit that doesn't is the bottom 4 flat tile 1x1 circle pieces -- the top two of these could be replaced either by full 1x1 plates, or by the semicircular plates used in the other sets to make the detailing here more continuous.

The use of 4 square plates in the banner at the top of the main section -- like in the Slytherin and Hufflepuff sets -- make it easier to see that when viewing at certain angles. It would have been better for all the sets to consistently use the semicircular plates in the bottom of the crest, like is done in the Ravenclaw set.

The back of the set could have been sturdier. When holding the sets and opening it up it is easy to slide the back image out of place, especially if this moves above the bottom black tap pieces holding it in place. I wonder how the back image will hold up over time, especially on the corners. Finally, the lack of a solid back makes these difficult to stack on top of each other, as the tap pieces and the bottom support are the only things that come into contact with what's behind it.

Descent set, inconsistent series

Even though he is only 7years old and this set states 9 years and over he had no problem putting this together by himself. He loves playing with the included figures and comes up with all different kind of stories.

There were a few hundred pieces so it took a good amount of time But it was truly enjoyable.  I would highly recommend getting to any Gryffindor.

Gryffindor Lego

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is hours of imagination and fun.  We are huge Harry Potter fans and I was so excited to come across the LEGO Gryffindor House Banner set. This is a must-have for any Gryffindor fan out there! The banner is well-crafted, and I was impressed with the attention to detail in every aspect. 

One of the best parts of this set is that it opens up to reveal an enchanting recreation of the Gryffindor common room. The common room is an amazing miniature replica, complete with a fireplace, seats, and a chess board. My kids loved Sirius Black appearing in the fire. This feature adds a touch of magic to the entire product.

The minifigures included in the set are Harry Potter, Angelina Johnson, and Neville Longbottom, and it has the Golden Snitch and Sword of Gryffindor. The characters are well-detailed.

Overall, I highly recommend the LEGO Gryffindor House Banner to anyone who is a fan of Harry Potter and LEGO. It's a great product that combines creativity, imagination, and attention to detail, making it a wonderful addition to our Lego collection. This is going to be a go-to gift for all our Harry Potter loving friends.

Hours of fun, great details, very unique

I can't believe only 73% of those who took the time to write a review would recommend this. If you are a fan of Harry Potter, this set is a MUST! If you are a fan of Lego, this set is a MUST! Seriously. Its is worth while and looks great displayed amongst the other three banners hanging on my bookcase. Thank you, Lego.

Awesome!

Not too many piece and he loved putting them together seeing the scene come to life. Instructions were great. No missing parts. A great set!

Fun!

I bought this set for myself to dip my toe into the Lego world. After re reading the Harry Potter books I thought this would be a good set to start with. Now I'm hooked! This set was really easy to build and the instructions were easy to follow. The one part I had a slight issue with was joining the hinged parts of the banner together as if they are not connected securely enough the pieces can fly off and are a bit fiddly to get back on. I think this was more builder error than anything though but something to be aware of when you build. Love the details of the set and the moving images in the background make it extra special.

First ever build

I echo what some others have said. This was a very frustrating build for my advanced Lego builder. It kept falling apart as she was building it, to the extent that she was in tears multiple times. My husband and I were checking her progress as she went along, and we had a hard time keeping the set together, even though we checked multiple times to make sure pieces were in the proper place. The flate maroon pieces on the sides could've been one solid piece, but they're not, and I think that's the main problem. The worst part is she received this set and all the other Hogwarts house banner sets as gifts from her aunt and uncle, and now she has no desire to put the rest of them together.
