Building Experience

Wing Movement

Features a straightforward assembly process.

Can be sturdy, but some parts feel fragile.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After scanning the internet and stored, this was the cheapest price I found anywhere. Cheaper by £10 in some cases.
I ordered online and the collection was easy, quick and very convenient as I picked up shopping at the same time.

This one is the best yet !  I liked Hedwig alright, then came along Fawkes who was even better in my eyes and now we have the Hungarian Horntail; which I think is the best of the three thus far. 
Beautifully detailed. Fun and engaging to build. Pretty colors in the mouth and with the dragons flame. Cute little golden egg is included as well. And I love the sculpting of the dragons skeleton around the wing areas; plus the fact they used “cloth” material to make the wings out of. 
Poseable head, jaw, legs and tail; what else can you wish for ?…
If I have to complain about something; it's the dragons tiny eyes (which are like tiny “eyes of Sauron”) being stickers. 
Other than that,… Brilliant !!!

LEGO

My kids have a lot of the HP 'everyone' sets, I have the more AFOL ones in my office(icons/the big castle/fawkes/and the maxi Harry Hermoine).  I have Fawkes which is beatutiful and I 'retired' my old mid-size horntail to the kids with this new set.  Build is atypical of the three flapping sets, and it gives a wonderful addition next to my castle with it's micro-horntail.  With Harry looking over his shoulder it's a great display.  The kids do like playing with it using the stand as a hand-hold for chasing one another around, haven't had to do any reconstruction work on it after they've had a go, the old smaller one sheds horns like it's a Labrador retriever dragon.  I'm in building materials where most of my commodities are up 60-130% over the last two years, so a few extra bucks for a worthy set is not that big a deal, Lego is still putting out great stuff as always with a below market rate of inflation.  
Fawkes and the Horntail does make the kid's Hedwig version look a bit homely, although 'my' version is the icons one, and this holds it's ground with 'Daddy's Lego' on the shelf-and with the kid's tapping into my vast collection of Lego dragons.  Although last time I put it back on the shelf took me a couple days to realize it was Garmadon now on the end of the pole getting chased...

Excellent addition

I've been dying to get this set since it's release and I was able to do just that a few weeks ago. I'm a huge Harry Potter fan and I love dragons so this was a must have. I had no idea just how big this actually was and pictures never do them justice and even when given the dimensions it's still hard to see the end result but once you do it's quite large and worth every penny. The attention to detail on this is just incredible and it was such a fun build. Id definitely recommend this to a friend!

This thing is HUGE!

I'm a Lego Castle lover, and my girlfriend loves the Harry Potter sets so getting these was a no-brainer! I personally HATE stickers, so I changed my build up a little, as well as updating the legs to make it able to stand (and using the wands as stoppers in the gears to make the wings stay in place) all in all great pieces to add to both of our collections!

Great set!

I purchased this set to create a display for my Dungeons and Dragons group, which I made with minifigs. This set was everything I hoped it would be; it's an extremely detailed wyvern with a beautiful wing-flapping feature. With a little bit of effort, I'm sure the dragon could even be free-standing. Worth the buy.

Wonderful Dragon

A little complex in the build, especially in the shoulder/elbows. The dragon build is beautifully detailed. A BONUS is that the dragon is easily detached from the stand to allow for more free-range play! My only complaint is that the dragon's eyes are stickers.

As both a lover of dragons (wyvern in this case!) and Harry Potter, I was very excited to receive this set! I love the huge fabric wings, the wingspan of which puts last year's Fawkes set to shame!
The crank feature is fun, though I wish there was an option to detach the dragon from the stand to play with it on it's own, that and more articulated legs. Minor nitpicks aside, this set is a great addition to any Harry Potter or dragon collection!

Great gift idea for Christmas

Bought for my 17 yr old son his verdict is; 
Its a pretty cool dragon and its awsome. Its very playable and I like the movment in the wings. This is from my fav film in the series so I was glad it was made into a set. 
It was an easy build and one of the best dragons ive built snd ive built a few.  I think fir the size it is thete is a lot of detail but maybe could have been a half size bigger but im not complaining its a cool set.

This Lego set is awful, I have had to take it apart multiple times because the mechanisms move out of place messing the whole thing up. Super frustrating!
