Well engineered product with tight tolerances. I assembled myself. Instructions were clear.
Tricky to attach pole assembly to backboard by myself. I placed a rubber mat between base and concrete surface to reduce friction wear on base. I used water in base and added 1 gal. 
Of RV antifreeze (non-toxic). I used those corkscrew ground anchors to stabilize goal with ratchet tie-downs. Love the mechanism to raise and lower goal. Base seems well designed.

Grandkids love it

Purchased a basketball system years ago and the backboard broke.  Even though it was out of warranty, customer service replaced it for free.  This is not the first time they have backed up their products. I have purchased a number of Lifetime products and will continue to buy from them and recommend them always.

Great customer service and product support

We received this as a gift for Christmas in 2020.  Early in 2022 when the hoop was only a year old, the acrylic backboard broke, leaving the hoop unusable. I had kept the manual so I decided to give the customer service number a call to see if we could get a replacement. I was so amazed at the customer service. I expected to have to buy another backboard but the agent told me the hoop had a 5 year warranty. So they shipped me a new one absolutely free.  Customer service like this is so rare - this is the type of encounter that inspires brand loyalty. I will definitely seek out Lifetime products for future purchases.

Great hoop - Amazing Customer Service

I have contacted customer service twice  a few months apart on replacing parts, and each time my problem was solved promptly and to my complete satisfaction quickly.  AAA+. As an aside,  I've read some comments about the constructing the unit being a challenge and would suggest reviewing the entire process before you start and doing it by section, as it does require some attention to detail but is both worth it and not overly complicated.

I tried out the Angi “expert” assembly that Walmart offered, and that was a bad experience. We had two guys that took several hours, peed in the yard, and left trash everywhere. Wish I would have assembled myself.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Decent hoop for the price, overall. The finished product is wobblier than I would hope, which is disappointing. As others note, it's no walk in the park to assemble. Personally, I didn't find it very difficult, just extremely time consuming. Took my husband and I several solid evenings of work to get it done.

Assembly instructions could be more thorough. It takes two strong people to manipulate the heavy backboard and large base especially when the base needs to be lifted 5 to 6 ft high to be able to work on the backboard on a table with the rim down not touching the ground. Gas cylinder connection on post should be left loose to allow tight fitting parts to assemble

I bought this 54' portable basketball hoop for our kids for their birthday and was really excited to put it together once the weather was warm. However, after 4 hours of labor, my dad and I couldn't finish the last few steps of the set up. We read the printed instructions word for word, page by page. We then referenced the online video instructions for additional help, discovering that the order of the online instructions were different than the order of the printed instructions! Even after following both sets of instructions, we could not get past the particular step we were stuck on. I even enlisted the help of my wife, mom, and a couple neighbors (who ALSO have portable hoops) for their perspective. So after spending our entire afternoon trying to solve the mystery that is this hoop, I had to tell my kids they would have to wait a bit longer. It's extremely angering when two different sets of instructions for the same product don't match. And now after so much time and effort already spent on this, I may have to spend money to have someone finish the job if we can't figure it out. Needless to say, our first experience with this Lifetime product has NOT been a positive one. Wish us luck.
