[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I added this kit plus a snow load kit to strengthen the new 8 X 15 shed I bought.  I did some pre assembly of the extra truss bracing then removed the screws to aid in roof panel installation.  Made it a lot easier for me not having to self tap all those screws from over head.

I purchased this at the same time I purchased an 8x10 foot shed.  I'm glad I did.  I think it makes the shed much more robust for high winds and snow load. The kit consists mainly of a bunch of heavy steel bracing which is attached to the shed after the shed is built.  The down-side is that it takes quite a while to install all of the bracing.  It almost doubled the assembly time for the shed,  In addition, a lot of the work is on the roof supports, so there is a bunch of overhead work.  This is mostly attaching metal bracing to the roof supports using a lot of self drilling screws.  A good drill driver is a must.  Your arms will definitely feel it, and those metal shavings from the drilling can be a bother when some get into your skin.  Wear eye protection.
But the worst part for me was the door bracing.  The instructions were obviously for a different model of door than the one on my shed, so the instructions didn't quite work out.  I ended up grinding a few of the pieces to get them to fit about where the instructions showed.  It was a pretty fiddly process and took quite a long time.
In the end, the product adds a lot of strength to the shed, tying the roof supports all the way down to the base,  and tying the gables to the roof and walls.  The end result is worth the effort if your shed is going to be exposed to high winds and snow.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The extreme weather kit is a great addition to the Lifetime shed. It definitely gives your shed added strength. If the shed's instructions for building the shed incorporated the extreme weather parts into the initial build of the shed, it could save a lot of time in building it.

Installing the extreme weather kit

A great addition to my 8X10 shed...it should be part of every kit!  It really strengthened the original kit.  I had to make a couple of adjustments to the door framing due to my original doors not fitting quite right.  All in all a straight forward installation and it definitely gives me some confidence that my shed will still be here after a hurricane.

Gotta have it!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We live in a high wind area, and this kit really stiffens up and secures our 8 x 7.5 shed. Directions are a little confusing, but the help line answered our questions quickly. It would be nice if all holes in the metal for the kit (and shed) were pre-drilled.

Worthwhile investment

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm happy with my Extreme Weather kit so far.  Although we haven't had any extreme weather yet I know that we will in the future as the weather here (northeast PA) has been anything but normal for the last few years in my opinion and I'd constantly worry that I should have got this.  The install went about has stated.  My son and I put it in the 8 x 12.5 shed.  The work took about 6-8 hours as has been stated elsewhere.  Nothing was hard if you assembled the shed in the first place just a lot of drilling and screwing.

Bad weather insurance

This kit made a big difference in how strong the shed felt.  My one criticism is that there should be instructions that combine this kit with the shed so you aren't taking things apart that you just assembled to put the shed up.  But I had read that in the comments and didn't have to go back too many times because I reviewed both sets of instruction..

Extreme Weather Kit

Great add-on! It is a must in the Pacific NW weather. This Extreme Weather Kit should be offered as part of a model itself rather than "only" as an add-on. It is quite expensive for an add-on and I feel that many of the parts should be included in the basic shed kit. Unfortunately, the kit is marketed a bit deceptively as it is only for the 10' or shorter shed. If you have a longer shed ( 12', 15', etc.) you are required to purchase additional parts to fully beef up your shed. That said, after calling Lifetime support, I was sent the additional parts required to weather-harden my 8' x 12.5' shed.

Great add-on for the Pacific NW, although expensive and only for 8' x 10' or shorter sheds.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this shed for extra storage and living in South Florida we have very hot summer days and don't forget about the high winds we have sometimes too. I also purchased the high wind kit. If you follow the UTube videos the shed goes up easy. I did it my self as I am very handy but you do need patience's. I have it on a slab of concrete since you need a flat level surface. I not only put 2x4's on the inside on 3 sides and bolted through them into the slab with 6” concrete bolts I also ran two cables Accross the ridge and anchored to the concrete slab as well.  The ventilation seems adequate and I like the clear center roof ridge for extra lite. I suggest using your own stand alone shelving and not relying on attaching anything to the walls. Seems like it's water proof but make sure it's not installed in a flood area, even 2” of water pooling would most likely enter and wet anything on the floor.
It's not a wood or metal shed, but to me it is good quality if it is installed right since it is very easy to mess up. I wish there was a way to have some aluminum to get it just a little more rigidity. Overall I am satisfied though.

Very good product for the money

This weather kit definitely improves the overall strength of the shed.  If you are worried about weather conditions, then this is a great buy.  The negatives - it took my father and I ~ 5-6 hours to install as there are a lot of parts and it is not a 1 person job.  There was also an issue we had with loosening one of the bolts that was needs to install a large portion of the kit.  So we had to stop for a day, get a metal clamp and pick up the next day.  Also if you have the 15 foot shed which I do, this kit does not completely cover all of the shed however, it still helps a lot.  In addition to the parts in the picture, there is door strengthening section which is included.  Overall, great strengthening kit, however a little painful to install (if you are not handy).  Note: If you installed the shed itself, then you can easily install this kit.

Worth the money

I purchased this as an add on to an 8x7.5 shed purchased at Costco. Existence of this kit was the main reason I went with the Lifetime shed rather than another, less expensive brand. 

The box arrived pretty beat up (FedEx) but all of the parts appeared to be present. A few were slightly damaged, but since the kit provides reinforcement for three trusses and our shed only has two, I was able to select and use those parts with the least damage. Mostly just bent ends of sidewall supports.

I installed this myself. Knowing that I would order this and having read the reviews I purposefully left the top of the roof off, which helped with speeding up addition of the truss cross members. Fortunately it didn't rain as the box was delayed an extra week (FedEx).

Installing this kit took about as long as building the original shed. I think it seriously beefed up the walls and roof, but the design and instructions were no where near as good as the shed forcing me to improvise and modify some parts. Even at that none (let me repeat NONE) of the door strengthening features fit on our shed. I believe the door design was different due to the door windows added to the Costco model.

If you have the shed you know the side window only opens about 6 inches. When the side brace over the window is installed it only opens about 2 inches. This bothered me so I re engineered that sidewall support. 

With the kit installed the roof load is distributed down the side rails to the floor so I imagine snow loading will not be a problem. Adding the side rails does require removing the braces (alias shelf brackets) added during original assembly. The instructions don't mention this and for all but the window panel I was able to just move them over about a foot where there were additional dimples for screws.

In some cases there were no pre-indicated marks, dimples, holes, or alignment nubs for the kit parts so you are on your own to get the placement correct. The instructions have a lot of clever ways (and measurement tool) for aligning door parts, but since none of them fit our doors it didn't matter. 

Am I glad I installed the extreme weather kit? Yes very much. Was it worth the cost? No, some of this should be part of the original shed. When I was done I ended up with about 40% of the parts unused largely because the shed only had 2 trusses and none of the door parts matched our doors. The door diagrams in the instructions also didn't match what we had.
