It holds 3 gallons of water and refills when the float reaches a certain level. My 5 dogs are happy. I'm also happy that i don't have to keep refilling a bowl of water for them. I do have to dump it out once a day right now because mosquitoes are heavy this time of year but it has virtually no maintenance. Everyone who has pets needs one of these! I highly recommend it.

The plastic fittings were super hard to get tightened together enough to avoid leaking. It holds a couple inches of water. I'll continue to use due to the fact I got it as a sample but that's it. If I had to buy it I promise this would be a return
