Ideal for outdoor play for kids aged 1-4 years old.

Got this for my nephew's 2nd birthday. It is a hit for him. My 5 year old loved it too! It's basically a giant sensory bin. Don't expect much or any room to sit in it. Used a $5 bag of sand from Home Depot. 50 pounds seemed enough, but you could do more. Wonderful as an outside exploring toy for toddlers. Durability seems fine. I appreciate that it has a cover. I'm tempted to get another to give to my sensory seeking 5 year old daughter.

I got this sandbox for my granddaughter's 2nd birthday and she loves it. It comes with so many extras, shovels, truck, 2 digging tools, 2 little men, and the crane digger, 2 scooping cups, and she loves the ramp for the dump truck, she uses it like a slide for now. Couldn't be happier with the small size, I didn't want a huge one, 2 50lb. Bags of sand fill it up. Oh, and my 6 year old nephew loves playing with her and the sandbox.

Perfect size!

I've never been a fan of sand boxes. The idea of my kids getting all sandy and then tracking that sand throughout my house. BUT this sand box is perfect. It's big enough to play but not big enough to sit in the sand. 
Love that it has a giant crane. My son is obsessed with anything construction. I bought a bunch of 3 inch dinosaur skeletons to hide in the sandbox and he uses his trucks and tools to find them. It's a game that keeps him occupied and gives me a 30 min break :)
If your on the fence, just go ahead and get it. The price is unbeatable for everything you get with it.

Great sand box that isn't too big

We bought this sandbox as a birthday present for our 4 year old. He absolutely loves it! We did not want a huge box, that he would be sitting in, So this was perfect for what we wanted.  It holds 2, 50lb bags of sand (we purchased ours at Lowes) I love how the lid is converted into a ramp.  We are very happy with it!

Perfect little sandbox

My 5yr old loves this sandbox!!! He has spent hours playing by himself while I get house work done. If you get a tarp, you can bring the sandbox inside. It's not huge but it's not too small either.

Great for ages 3-10

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this for my 3yo grandchild and it was a big hit!  I love that they can play and then it can be closed.  The crane and toys are nice.  If I had to say anything negative, it could be a little bit bigger because kids love to sit in the sand lol.  still a great deal for the sale price!

On the picture it looks big but when you see it this is very small it works fine for my 18 month old but it's more of a sandbox you sit around and play with and you don't actually sit in pay attention to the dimensions before you purchase

Very small

This Little Tikes Big Digger sandbox with lid is so small but its  a lot of fun for little toddler/preschoolers.  As others have said, the manufacturers information is misleading. The sandbox itself is only 8 inches tall and about 25 inches wide. The box rim has openings all along it so you can't fill to the top with sand. This can hold exactly 100 lbs of sand. The excavator is very cool and its the reason that we chose to buy this.  We have a 2 yr old and 3-1/2 year old playing with this and they both love it so much. They have spent a lot of hours this week digging in the sand.

So small but fun

Great for my two year old who's an only child. The box is smaller but perfect for what we were looking for. He loves the construction trucks and could play in it allll day. We placed the lid on incorrectly and had several days of rain which led to it filling with water and taking forever to dry out enough to be damp and instead of a pool.

Great for the price

Product is a great concept but is absolutely too small for even a one year old to sit in and play and awkward to play with sitting on the outside.  Wish it was larger.
