I reviewed the tire twister with the help of my son. He is your years old. He loved it! He is a car fanatic son This was right up his ally. He loves how fast it goes and definitely loves the lights and sounds. It is very sturdy, which is perfect for little ones who are rough with toys. My son loves this in the tire, and out of the tire. It's fun to play with either way. 
For me, I loved how easy it was to take out of the package and how easy it was for the battery installation. I love how it is also easy for my child to turn it off and on himself easily. This will be a toy that will entertain for hours, and great for imagination play. I love that the police car can be stored in the tire with the remote on top as well, saves space and less of a chance to lose any parts.

This product is amazing! My kids played with it for hours when we first recieved it! The noises and the lights made for fun in the light and in the dark! My kids were so excited and as one would drive it around the other one would be running around giggling while it chased them! I love that you can drive it in the circle tire or outside of it kinda makes it seem like two different toys! I would definitely buy this as a gift for someone or get another one so each of my kids have one! Its really a fun toy for the whole family!

From the moment I put the batteries in this toy, it's become a favorite for both kids (boys - age 20 months & almost 4 yrs old).  My 4 year old got the hang of driving it pretty quickly and he doesn't have a lot of experience with remote control cars or video games.  The tire part is cool & fun but they don't use it in the tire that often, mostly love driving the police car around.  My older son loves that it's a police car and uses it with his other toys to pretend he arresting his bad guy action figures.  The lights and sounds are good - it's not too loud where it gets super annoying after hours of play.  Also the batteries have lasted quite awhile considering how much the kids play with it.  It takes 2 AA batteries in remote and 4 in car - easy to take out of box and put in batteries.  I hate trying to battle a box while kids anxiously await their toy.  I like that the car will flip over / keep going when it runs into a something so I don't have to help the kids with steering, etc.  We travel a lot, so it's a toy they like that we can easily take with us (w/o tire).  I would recommend this to family and friends and might buy another one so both kids have one to play with!

Kids LOVE this toy!!!

This product is a remote control car that can be used independently or it can be placed inside a "tire" and the "tire" becomes an extension of the car. The remote control has two directional buttons. One of the directional buttons is on the left, and the other on the right. The buttons on the left control the tires on the left side of the car, and the buttons on the right control the tires on the right side. You can choose to either go forward or backward with either set of buttons. To get the car to go straight ahead one has to hold both the forward buttons down. To get the car to reverse, one has to hold both the backward buttons down. The remote does seem to have a long range. 

We opened the package today and immediately my kids began to play with it. My 4yo loves it and would not stop playing with the car and remote for almost an hour. He has a little bit of a hard time getting it to go where he wants it to, and he typically plays with only the car and not the car inside the "tire". He can't maneuver the car well inside the "tire". My 7yo also loves it. She does a little more maneuvering inside the "tire", and can get the car to go most anywhere she wants. 

I tried the car, and after a short time of working with the remote I had a relatively easy time getting the car zipping around. The controls are not super intuitive, and as a result, when I tried the car inside the "tire" I had a harder time. The "tire" has a hard time changing directions from front to back or spinning one direction to the opposite. I still have not mastered the handling in the "tire" after about 30 minutes of play. 

The car does have lights on the whole time it is turned on, and when any directional button is pressed sirens are going off on the car. 

Overall we are pretty pleased with this product. It has given my kids hours of fun!

Fun for kids

It's a really great beginner RC car for parents who want their kids to have a durable electronic toy. The volume of the police car siren, which only plays when it's actually moving, is audible but not annoyingly loud. The controller feels sturdy as do the car and wheel.

The gimmick of the large wheel, however, doesn't seem to work all the time. The way it works is the RC car has rubber grip wheels that catch the large tire to move. Sometimes, for whatever reason, the wheels don't grip the big wheel and nothing happens.

The controller also uses standard tank controls, meaning both sides of the controller have up/down controls. They essentially control each side of the wheels. So if you want to go right, you either push up on the left with down on the right (for a faster turn) or just up on the left or just down on the right. To move forwards you have to press up on both sides.

Also the wheels don't seem to turn at the same rate, so sometimes the car will not go straight because of it.

Little Tikes has become a staple in our home. We love the brand's toys and have come to trust them. When I saw the Tire Twister Lights, I knew it was something my 2 1/2 year old son would love! He adores remote control cars, although he has trouble controlling them. This product, however, took care of that problem. 

The police car is a tumbler- it can flip and be driven on either side. It fits nicely inside the tire and can easily be removed and replaced. My son was able to do so with ease. The police car itself requires 4 batteries, and flashes with blue and red lights even makes a siren sound. The car, inside the tire, can drive forward, backwards, and twist in circles (my son's favorite). Driven alone, the car can be driven pretty much like any remote control vehicle. My son could only get the twisting down, but that was enough to keep him entertained and excited. It doesn't require a huge space, which was another plus to us. 

Once again, Little Tikes has met our expectations for quality and fun. I would definitely buy this product and recommend it. The only con is that the tire toppled over nearly every time during the twisting action. That's not a huge deal, but it breaks up the independent play for younger children.

Lots of Fun for Younger Children

This doesn't work. I got this for my son's Christmas gift and I followed the instructions to no avail.

It's cute

Gave as a gift for Christmas this year.  Added batteries and prepared to enjoy.  Much to our disappointment only the wheels on one side of the car turn, resulting in a noisy toy that will only spin in circles.  Tried different batteries and got the same result.  Did I receive a faulty unit?

Disappointed

Bought this for my son for Christmas. Out brand new batteries in it (Duracell) they did not work so I bought (energizer) still did not work. So I'm just sitting here looking at a toy that was pointless because all it is doing is the remote control is flashing. Nothing else.
