It is just what I ordered. Ordered because this skillet is the one I use to sear steaks before I put them in oven at 400 degrees for 10 minutes to achieve medium rare steaks. Course steaks must be approximately 2 inches thick. lol. Thinner steaks won't work for this

This is a very high quality cast iron grill pan. It has complete instructions, too, as to how to care for it. It seems heavier than most others I have had, but the quality of it is obvious.  If one treats it well and follows washing and seasoning instructions, it is likely that it will last a good, long time.

Excellent product - good quality at a great price.

Besides being what I needed it is American made. The pan is heavy, but the handle balances it out. It is convenenty pre-seasoned which means you can start cooking right away.
In all it is a very sturdy and reliable pan and I am quite pleased with it.

American made grill pan

This is my best purchase of the year-wished I had bought it 10 years ago! I use it almost every day: steaks, chicken, pork, shrimp, burgers, veggies-everything comes out perfect. The pan cleans up easily and ready for the next day. I don't even put this pan away. I keep it out on the stove where it's ready for the next meal. Love the grill marks on my indoor grilled food. This pan is so sturdy I can see it lasting forever. I am SO glad I bought it and the price was excellent. My Mom used to cook on similar pans and I didn't understand back then how great they were. I'm so glad I have one now. It retains heat very well and heats evenly. LOVE IT!

Use it (almost!) everyday!

We bought a NuWave induction burner but didn't want to pay their price for the grill accessory. I ordered this one at 1/3 of their price and used it last night for a steak. It was perfect and cooked evenly and fast. With cooler weather approaching a great alternative to outside grilling.

Beyond what we expected

I love all the Lodge cast iron, they come pre-seasoned, but I always reseason all my new cast iron at least twice before I ever use it, I do it the old fashion way with lard, outside on my charcoal grill as hot as I can get it and for several hours recoating the inside several times and then making sure it cooks until all the lard is cooked into the iron, coating the inside bottoms especially, then I'm ready for years of fine cooking. When people say that food sticks they do not have the inside bottoms seasoned like they are supposed to be and I never use anything to clean except warm water and a paper towel, dry off and put away. If you cook on it often you should not have to put oil on it if it is properly seasoned and don't worry about germs and whatnot because when you preheat your pans, as you should before you use them but not too hot, it kills everything.

This is truly an exceptional product. Well beyond my greatest expectations. It's the best thing I've ever bought from Walmart. It heavier than any other piece I own and it performs magnificently. Lodge Mfg. is truly the best, and only, source for American Cast Iron.

Best Cast Iron Cookware I've ever owned

Great weight to it. Food did not stick. I followed the instructions on arrival: 1) Washed well with my green Dawn detergent and water due to covid-19.  2)Dried well with a paper towel within EVERY SINGLE CREVIS.  3)Warmed it up slowly on the counter top to remove imbedded water. 4)Added a small drop of vegetable oil

Lodge cast iron review from a first time buyer

I have only used this pan twice (they really need to ask for reviews latter and not so quickly). It felt good and solid in my hands, gave me the "burn" marks on meat that i was looking for and cooked them evenly. Its saids they come "seasoned", on my first try the meat stuck and was difficult to clean up afterwards (even used spray on oil). I re=seasoned the pan myself (IAW their directions on their website) and it works just like a non-stick pan. Bottom line: works great, just season the pan before you use it the first time so u are not disappointed.

I ended up returning it because there was a chip out of it and I thought it would make it more susceptible to rust. I would try again with a new order I just haven't gotten around to it. I really want the grill surface to make grill marks when I'm cooking up my favorite pork chops, sausage, and of course my signature steaks!
