As practical as it is pleasing to the eye, this cast iron Dutch oven features a glossy porcelain enamel coating. The chip-resistant enamel is hand applied and baked onto each piece, eliminating the need to season the cast iron. Since 1896, the Lodge family has been making cast iron cookware of the highest quality. We always strive to provide an unmatched experience at the greatest value. As times change and techniques evolve, we look to pioneer progress, but always with our roots firmly in place. Lodge's century-old tradition of excellence continues as we marry the benefits of cast iron with the beauty of porcelain enamel.

Cast Iron

For Stews

Sturdiness

I had been looking for one of these and found one at Walmart.com for a super price! It is beautiful. It was securely packed and double boxed. Some sites say it is a 7.5 qt, but the box says 7.8 qts. I was interested to learn that the black edges around the rim of the pot and lid are actually a matte black porcelain. To protect this porcelain edge, it comes with nice rubber bumpers which slip onto the edge of the pot (see photo) to keep the pot and lid safely apart during storage. Mine had seven of these, be sure none get lost while unpacking so you can save them. Will be an heirloom for sure.

Super Dutch oven

walmart.com

Absolutely beautiful Dutch Oven. Just love using it for soups and stews. Lovely color. The price point is great too.

You won't be disappointed

i absolutely LOVE these dutch ovens...Exceptional heat retention....Size %26 Beauty....I have even given one to my good friend.....I will take a lodge over the very pricey dutch ovens every time.....
Great Value for the money spent.....

Great Value with excellent performance and beauty

This is the 6th piece purchased from Walmart. I chose to pick up in store which worked out really well, prompt service & nice folks behind desk to work with and most importantly nothing damaged. These dutch ovens are used in the oven and on top of the stove and haven't been disappointed yet with the results nor has anything been burnt. Easy to clean, I wash by hand not in dishwasher even though they are dishwasher safe. The food heats evenly and stays hot/warm for awhile for 2nd helpings. They are heavier than a stainless steel pot and do get quite hot/warm. I would recommend these dutch ovens to everyone....you'll see the difference.

Lodge Dutch Ovens

I now have four pieces of Lodge...the 7.5 quart, the 6 quart, the 2 3/4 quart apple and 11 inch skillet. This stuff is great - all of the good of cast iron and none of the bad (seasoning, rusting, etc). I mainly use this stuff in an outdoor kitchen with portable induction cooktops. I can simmer chili all day or fry bacon. I've seen one negative review regarding a lack of enamel on the edges where the lid meets the dutch oven. This is a non issue and since enamel is actually porcelain, covering the edges would end up being a chipping nightmare. This stuff looks great, is easy to clean and will last forever.

Lodge Enamel cast iron is great

this dutch oven is so similar in weight, feel, look, and cooking to the Le Creuset .
I own Le Creuset too and wish I had known about this lodge cast iron dutch oven before I spent so much more money on the Le Creuset dutch oven. This Lodge did exactly as advertised...cooked a meal in one pan. We browned the meat, added the other ingredients, and took it off the stove and put it directly into the oven at 400 to cook for an hour. It was also VERY easy to clean.

I had no idea you had been making the Lodge Cast Iron since 1896! Where have I been all these years to spend so much on the French one when the USA one was right here!!! Thank you!!

lodge enamel cast iron

Cooked homemade spaghetti for a crowd and this pot, (such a trite word, there must be better!), helped me create a masterpiece! The cooking was perfect, the heat retention was perfect, the appearance was perfect, and the cleanup was as easy as rinsing a soda glass! Rating??? There are not enough stars to describe this product. There is one downside though. Now I have to replace all my other kitchen stuff with Lodge products! :-)

I wasted money on lesser products!

I've cooked with cast iron in the past for fried chicken and the like. I've had my eye on one of the enameled pots for some time but I can't justify spending that kind of money if there is something comparable for less and has a good warranty. Lodge is a reputable firm. That said, this pot is everything they say it is. So far I've made some wonderful stews, braised dishes and although it is a bit heavy, the results are terrific. The heating is steady and even with no hotspots.
You do have to follow the care instructions for these kinds of vessels - wood or other non-metal utensils, no metal scrubbing pads and I find just storing it in its original box and shipping bumpers is likely the best route to avoid it being scratched and bumped by my other pans.
If you are seeking a versatile pot capable of a wide range of cooking techniques then you will enjoy this product. Happy Cooking!

Expensive Cast Iron Pots Have Nothing on this one

I love lodge products, but had to return the first one as it had a flaw that went from the inside out about a 1/2 area. I love this color. The online return had some glitches, but the staff was very friendly and just doing the best they could. I reordered and love the new one. Same color. Always look them over when you receive one, just in case there is a problem.

Lodge products are great, but can have some flaws.

I have only used it a couple times - so I cannot speak to it's durability. 1 thing that bothered me a bit - was the description I read (somewhere) said no cast iron is visible - it is all enamel covered - but on mine the rim of the pot and the lid are cast iron bare - no problem though - I just am going to keep it seasoned (with oil) to protect it. Looking forward to this becoming my favorite pan ever. Looking forward to buying a few smaller ones as well. So glad not to be eating the no stick finish from the non stick pans!

Before opening, the box sounded like it was full of sand. It was full of shards. The entire enamel outside of one side of the pot was broken off and in shards in the box. A portion of the lid enamel was broken off too. I took pictures in case no one believes me. I was SO disappointed. I have been wanting this pot for a long time and I don't think any stores carry this size.

Arrived in a box full of shards
