This is a good quality iron grill press! I used parchment paper between the press and the burger meat just so there is less to clean as far as food debris. 
I cleaned the press with soapy water and dried with towel. No sign of rust on the item but when laid on my drying mat, there was rust residue. No harm no foul. What would you expect from an iron item, huh?! Haha
Loved the way the smash burgers we made came out! Highly recommend getting a press :)

Works well, especially for steaks and smashburgers. It's heavy enough to obtain a good sear. The handle heats up quickly, so use a pot holder. I wish it came with a base or holder. If you need to set it aside momentarily, you'll need a stack of paper towels to prevent a mess.

Ordered this after seeing a Yootube showing how you could use an iron grill press as a (MUCH cheaper) substitute for the expensive one for sale by Kamado (grill/smoker). It's working just as I expected and I think it will probably last at least as long as my little smoker! I haven't used it yet for smash-burgers but I'm sure I will.

Lodge cast iron is still the king!

Lodge is nice Cast Iron and made in USA.   I love the Grill Press. 
I like to make smashed burgers, bacon, steak and this works great.
It's almost like a cast iron lid on top of the food that is made if you 
leave it on top.  I found it to stop the splashing of butter or oil from the
item being cooked in oven or on top of stove.  I will be buying more cast iron
from this made in USA company.

Lodge Seasoned Cast Iron 8" Round Grill Press

I've used my bacon press on steak and hamburgers. Both cook faster but the steaks are juicier  than without the press. This is the only press I could find which was made in America. Being made in America insured to me that it did NOT contain any lead or anything else harmful to my health
I gave 2 for Christmas presents. Both people like the presses.
I recommend this press.

It works very good for the amount I paid for it. Bought it for a gift for my son in law. Used it while grilling and on the stove.

Made my first ever smash burgers and this tool made it effortless and they were a 'smash' at the family get together. Highly recommended.

Keeps meats like  bacon and ham steak flat - without curling edges - excellent for grilled cheese sandwiches ...an excellent addition to my cooking tools

Too heavy handle gets hot in the bottom surface isn't smooth lotta little tiny debits that filled with food hard to clean
