I really like the "clickiness" and responsiveness of the keys.  Not quite as clacky as my old IBM keyboards, but gives me the audible click I like.  Form factor/size of the keyboard is good.  I have not yet programmed any of the "G keys", but plan to.  One bad thing is that I repeatedly hit the "G5" key when I mean to hold down CTRL.  Gotta get used to that, or disable G5.

I got this one as an upgrade from my Logitech G910 Orion Spectrum RGB Wired Mechanical Keyboard. I really like it this far! It&#x27;s very comfortable. Keys feel good and have good responsiveness. It's tactile setting feels great! I definitely recommend this keyboard.

Great keyboard

First time buying a mechanichal keyboard for gaming and the G815 has been a great choice, it&#x27;s comfortable, it adapts well to my desk dimensions, and in it&#x27;s tactile setting it feels great without being too loud. I would reccomend this keyboard for future buyers.

I loved this keyboard

I went back to linear keys instead of clicky or tactile and omg the difference is like night and day. It actually took me a week to get used to typing on linear again. So fast and smooth. The G815 is one of the few boards left with G Keys. I love using them on the different PC games I play. The base is a low profile, thin format that has a nice heft due to the metal used. It&#x27;s so much nicer than other, more bulky mechanical keyboards on the market. I now have my mouse, keyboard and microphone all from Logitech. This allows me to keep them all under the same, proprietary G-Hub software, which is incredible in and of itself. It&#x27;s a perfect setup.

Getting Back to Linear

Before listing the reasons I returned my G815, I should say that I purchased this keyboard for the intended use of office work, not gaming. Fit, finish, and typing feel were outstanding as are the customization options; however, the following points made it unusable for me:

1) Secondary/shift characters are below the primary character instead of above. This is counterintuitive, and no other keyboard I&#x27;ve used over the last 30+ years has been designed this way. Shift = upper case = above.

2) Secondary characters are not illuminated. 

3) LED driver circuit produces flicker that is noticeable and distracting when moving one&#x27;s eyes rapidly from left to right or up and down.

4) Keyboard setup (key colors specifically) should be saved in the keyboard on power removal so startup configuration does not rely on the PC software. 

5) Possible defect: Random key repeats occurred with some frequency, sometimes resulting in the loss of nearly a full line of text with one tap of the backspace key before realizing it was happening and hitting another key to stop it. (Think "key held down.")

The G815 was purchased to replace a K740 which has the design defect of the letters wearing off of the keys resulting in no letter and a blob of white light showing through. (I have had three of them do this.) Other than this inherent problem and one keyboard suffering a sticky "Windows" key, it was, in my opinion, the perfect keyboard, but is sadly no longer made. I have moved to an MX Keys keyboard, and so far am satisfied although I prefer the larger form factor and adjustable tilt of the K740 and G815 as well as the constant illumination.

Returned for several design issues.

Solid low-prof board. Only 2 complaints, wish there was a G-key delete option as they make the board a bit bigger than I'd like, and the M button's only color is yellow when everything else is rgb… making it stand out quite a bit. Other than those issues, it's great.

I was shocked it doesn't work until after windows loads. You cannot enter your BIOS or use boot loaders with this keyboard... so keep your old one around I guess. Also the num / caps lock lights are EXTREMELY bright and can't be dimmed and the cord is really thick (with TWO USB plugs).

Otherwise it's a fine keyboard with with a few annoying imperfections on the keys (dust-like bumps/bubbles under the finish). Solid construction, keys feel good, but feels overpriced for the quality control.

I bought the G815 as a replacement for my G510, primarily because I make extensive use of the G510&#x27;s 54 (3x18) macro keys for programming and media creation. The G815 seemed to be the only keyboard from any manufacturer that came close to this at what is now a paltry 15 (3x5).

Positive:
The G815&#x27;s brown tactile switches are a huge improvement over the non-mechanical G510 that cannot be understated: response is excellent and separation between the keys feels right. Aesthetically, the G815 is pleasing and has a nice finish to it - a major improvement from the weird curves and edges that made the G510 uncomfortable for extended use. It&#x27;s a lot easier to find a good wrist rest to go with the G815.

Negative:
The G815 requires two USB ports on your computer if you want to make use of the USB port integrated into the keyboard, but this integrated port is NOT USB 3+! That seems like a design failure, and I wouldn&#x27;t mind an extra 2 feet of cord (to accommodate use at a standing desk). Curiously, the keyboard only has indicator lights for caps & num lock - but not scroll lock, which ... yes... still governs how some features in various creative applications work.

Extras:
RGB lighting (if you&#x27;re into that sort of thing) comes through the keys better on the G815 than the G510. I don&#x27;t miss the G510&#x27;s integrated display much since the applications released for it were not very useful (except the load monitor) and Logitech provided very little developer material for creating better ones.

Verdict:
The G815 is a workable replacement for the G510, but it downplays some of the major features that used to differentiate this product from competitors. The loss of over two thirds of my macro keys hurts my productivity greatly. I wonder how the designer would feel if they lost over two thirds of their fingers.

Decent Replacement for G510

The G815 is a good keyboard. I would have preferred having a top row of macros, like the G915, but the side column is good enough.

However, G Hub is the only way to set the LEDs, and it&#x27;s a horrible piece of software. It&#x27;s an unintuitive mess that lacks a lot of functionality from Logitech Gaming Software, the application it&#x27;s replacing. After installing it, LGS ceases to function. If you have any other hardware that was using LGS, like a mouse, you&#x27;ll have to use G Hub instead with no official way to roll back.

G Hub has more or less ruined my perfectly good G600 mouse. I cannot reassign mouse buttons without it breaking, and I can&#x27;t use a Lua script to get around it since their API is so messed up. Getting this keyboard completely ruined my favourite mouse.
