I like the mechanical feel better than my old keyboard! The footprint is not taking up as much room either. I don't have to worry about losing wireless connection with the wired board.

Solid performance as a USB mechanical keyboard. Not many options for modding.  Very reliable standby keyboard if all else fails.

Solid, reliable, mechanical keyboard

To the good: Plug the USB cable in, and it simply works. Lighted keycaps give a Star Trek feel, and like the other typewriter-era guys writing reviews on the web, I love the distance the keys move and the fact they make a sound.

The baffling: The safety pamphlet inside begins by nagging you to read the manual before using, but the nearest thing to a manual is the diagram on the underside of the carton. There's a 6-page rendition of it on-line. Bottom line, Logitech provides an extra "Fn" key that, with F1, F2, and F12, sets the keyboard's illumination mode. There does seem to be a light inside every single key and Fn F12 toggles through some cute light dances, if you want glitz.

Dismayed to read that it requires modern Windows, as my goal was to breathe a couple more years into a beloved XP box—but it does. (Don't try it on Win95/98; they never really supported USB.)

More baffling: There are 4 current color-coded varieties of K845, touting unique keyboard feels, but this product doesn't say which it is, and the part number on the underside matches none of them. Not a problem; merely baffling.

Fine! after being baffled

This keyboard has good physical and auditory feedback, it's a joy to type on. It's also attractive to look at and with it's plain white backlighting the keys are easy to read without being garish. It's got a good amount of heft and feels solid and well made, definitely doesn't slide around on the desktop. Good bang for the buck!

I wanted Cherry MX Blue switches.  This has Tactile blue switches.  They aren't the same feel, and so I returned the keyboard.  The return was handled promptly and professionally.  I have used an identical keyboard for the past 3 years and found it stellar.  I just wanted a spare.
