I first got this book over 24yrs ago, when my son was born, it made me cry then and now. It's beautifully written and a story that can be passed down for generations. 
 I'd suggest buying a few copies and saving them for part of a baby shower gifts.
I try to buy one for every new baby arrival, especially if they're a boy — the story it's about a mother %26 son. — It's the cycle of life.

a sweet story of the life of a mom, and the adventures of parenting a growing child.  the end of the story is especially touching. I have given this book to many new parents.  when my grandmother and later,  my mother,  we're nearing the ends of their lives,  I read the story to them.  even though I have read it,  many times,,I still get a little emotional,  when I read it. its such a tender and loving story.

just what I needed right now to help me out with the difficult time I am having its hard trying to take care of your parents when they get older and you are disabled but it helps remind me of everything she does/ did for me and helps me try harder to take better care of her the best i can but I still need help and I am reaching out for resources but it reminds me of how we need to take care of each other and I leave the book out where I can see it to try to help me figure it out and try to have some patience because I love my family forever no matter what even if it is very too hard we will find a way through this together

Love this book, First ordered this book back in 1989. Read it to my daughter every night and as she learned to read at the early age of  2 1/2We read it together. Continued buying this same book for each of my Grandbabies And reading to each one. 2008, 2010. 2014 and now 2025. It has become our family book. And I still have my daughter's book.

Our family story book

I had this book when I had my daughters  back in '97 %26 '98. I created my own tune for the song. I cried over the story so many times since. My 1st Grand Nephew is arriving this year %26 it is the 1st book I thought of to give to my niece. Love this story!

I first gave this lovely story to my daughters when.they were very young. I gave it to them again when they were all grown up with chidren of their own to remind them that, "I'll love you forever, my baby you'll be." Even over a great distance and time betwee. them a loving mother's love for her children never ends.

A lovely gift for a child, even an adult one.

This book is beautifu, just unforgettably touching and BEAUTIFUL. I cried the first time I read it, standing in a book store in the early 1990's, and over 30 years later - I still cry. The dynamic of the mother/child relationship and how it grows and evolves is so beautifully illustrated. The soft and beautiful refrain that is repeated throughout the book "I'll love you forever. I'll like you for always. As long as you're living, my baby you'll be" feels different at every age and stage of life. I can hear a grandmother read it and find a completely different meaning than hearing a father take on the narrator role. I bought this as a gift for a new baby coming to the family and I always say "if you already have it, pass it to another parent who doesn't yet." Robert Munsch is a gift and he will be truly treasured and missed.

bought Love You Forever by Robert Munsch for my kids because I remember my librarian reading it to us when I was little — and it would bring tears to my eyes every time. Now reading it as a mom hits even deeper.

Great Gift for Newborn

I've read great reviews about this book..and I don't understand why anyone would ever this this was a good story. It's so creepy. The mom is sneaking around the boy's bedroom while he sleeps from the time he's a baby until he's an adult. And she rocks him while he sleeps. The drawings are of her crawling on his bedroom floor sneaking over to him. It is just such a weird story. I am returning.
