For the price, you can't beat the features and functionality in this unit. I am a beginner when it comes to fish finding and the unit is easy to use (although I don't have any past experience to compare it with). Loaded with features. Just wish I had gotten the 7" instead for screen size alone. To make up for it I bought a 8" android tablet and I remote control the unit from anywhere on the boat.

Affordable entry into fishing electronics

I did a bit of research on this price range between the lowrance and the humminbird, and the elite ti was the winner. I have used it three trips, and definitely has brought more fish into the boat. Very honest reads on fish and on structure. Awesome when you identify a school of perch, mark it on the structure scan, and then go back and fish it. The touch screen is incredibly fast. The totalscan structure took a little while to figure out settings, but it is better overall then I thought it could be for knowing what is below the boat. A couple things I thought would be a part of the system that I have yet to figure out: first, I would like to see different settings on any screen, like speed, temp, depth, but it is only available when you split screen, which on the elite 5 is pushing it to see things very well. Second, I was thinking the gps component would show mileage, but I have yet to figure that out yet. Would be really useful.  There are still a few things to learn about the unit, but overall, easy 5 stars from my small amount of use.

More fish in the boat

I purchased this unit earlier in the year. It has worked flawlessly finding fish in a variety of areas including ledges of Kentucky Lake and Lake Guntersville and deep water pelagics off the southeastern Florida coast.

Perfect Unit

Going into second season and has worked great - the gofree app to match with my IPad is a great feature. Lots of menus for just about everything you would need.

Awesome unit

I have been using lowrance products for over 30 years. This unit was the biggest step up I have ever made. The touch screen editing waypoints is so easy. The refresh is super fast. I use the unit in the Galveston bay complex. I love the unit. I have already recommended it to several of my fishing buddies and one purchase the unit too!  It's really cool learning the new features together.

Big improvement

I originally owned a HDS-5 and 7, both Gen 1. I updated the 7 to a gen2 HDS-8 with structure scan and was blown away.

Then I bought a pontoon and equipped it with an Elite-7.  This is just great, and totally blows away the earlier stuff once again!

I will be back for more when I need electronics again.

Blown away by the updated processing capability

I purchased the 9ti for the size and side imaging.  The added features like being able to link my phone or iPad and control the unit make it even better.  There's no question the carbon and HDS are amazing, but for the weekend angler on a budget you can't go wrong.  I'm actually looking at buying another one for the bow.  Don't have one complaint.

Outstanding value and product.

I always was old school when it came to fishing and didn't use electronics. My brother gave this to me as a gift and well what can I say. Being a beginner  it was easier than I thought it would be. I have the basics down and each time I go fishing I learn something new...needless to say I'm hooked. Can't go wrong with this setup.

Great fish finder, this is a must

Me and my dad bought this product about 1 month ago and it is the best decision we ever made and it works so well we are now upgrading to the larger one to get more features but it is a great product for a beginner to use it is so versitial.

Best fish finder yet

Good little unit for the price, major step up from the Hook1 unit I purchased three years ago.  Only feedback for Lowrance is disappointed that I can't run two transducers:  the totalscan transducer is great but I lose signal on plane.  Being able to use both my in-hull and totalscan would make this a powerhouse unit!

Very intuitive UI, keep up the great work!
