[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Mega Blocks Despicable Me Castle Adventure set has been a terrific investment for our family! My son and I spent about 2 hours putting it together and he loves it. It has a lot of attention to detail and we love every little nook and cranny. It is fairly sturdy once fully put together and holds up decently under play (though half the fun is breaking and rebuilding!). The Minions themselves are fun to put together and look terrific.

This set has provided many hours of imaginative play and inspired us to collect additional Minions Mega Block sets to give our son even more creative play.

Imaginative & inspiring play!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was so impressed with this product. The Minion castle has so many different features that I was not expecting. This was primarily played with by my eight year old son. Even though I had to help him a lot with the construction, (because the parts are a little hard to get together) it was great bonding time. This product is appropriately released right at the same time as the movie which makes its imaginative value higher.

The first feature that I want to talk about is the crown hold. There is this awesome little compartment where the crown for Bob is stored safely. When someone tries to steal it, it falls through a hidden door and goes into a protective safe. There is a similar compartment for the scepter. There are little strong holds for Kevin to climb the walls.

The walls, are accurately made to look just like a castle would, with the bricking. The windows are fairly accurate as well to mimick castles of old. There is a little jail for deviants and so many features that it allows kids to not lose interest like they do in most other things.

The best feature of all is that the castle opens and closes to allow for easier storage. I would highly recommend this for just play or even for your minion display if you are a minion addict! High five from this family!

Awesome toy my daughter loves it

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product for my eight year old daughter and I was excited to be able to give her such an awesome gift for Christmas! She was so excited when she saw how big the castle ended up being! Our household absolutely love legos, and minions so it was perfect!

The only negative thing I found while putting this together was the fact that the pieces weren't separated any special way so we had to go through and figure that part out on our own. But I think that adds to the fun!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My 7 and 5 year old daughter's loved the packaging. They were immediately happy and wanted to open the package. From a parents point of view, several things could be improved. For example, my daughter's needed help building the castle. It was pretty complicated since the instructions weren't clear. Legos were in different bag's and not specifically designated. Getting past that, everything was fine. We enjoyed putting it together and my daughter's can play for hour's with this toy.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Since the recommended age on the box was 5 and up I decided to let my 6 and 8-year-old kids work on this without me. It wasn't long before I heard sighs and grunts of frustration coming from their work area. While I believe that a 5-year-old is fully capable of following the directions, which were pretty self-explanatory and easy to follow, I do not think a child that age has the patience to sift through 786 pieces to find a teeny building block. Definitely recommend grown-up assistance on this one. However, once it was finally together (we did it in stages over a few days) my kids loved it. Rates very high on the fun factor! They love Mega Blocks and they love Minions so the castle provided lots of fun that featured laughs and giggles as they animated the accompanying characters with "Minion speak". Aside from the length of time it takes to assemble - which is the case with any of these building brick type sets - I was overall very satisfied and my kids loved it even more.

Overall satisfied

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My grandsons, age 7 and 11, are Legos fanatics. They own every Lego made. When I seen this at Mattel I scooped it up thinking it would be a great gift for the younger grandson and he loves Minions, so it was a no-brainer. He immediately started putting it together and as soon as we opened the bag I noticed the little bags inside were not labeled well. Not that it really mattered because he had ripped them all open anyway. We went through them all and sorted them out as best we could and began putting the castle together. Some pieces were more difficult to snap together and some were a little small so they were hard to handle but all in all, we got it created in a couple of hours. It is actually a very nice castle with lots of play areas and it seems to keep him engaged for a long time so I am happy with the quality of the product. The only real complaint would be the actual figures themselves are a little cheap looking. Though the price of the toy was reasonable, I think the figurines could have been better made but like I said, all in all, I am extremely happy with the money I spent and my grandson will have hours of play. I would definitely recommend this for anyone with a child who loves to construct and play.

Wonderful gift for kid!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First of all, the minions in this set are so very cute. My kids really liked playing with them even without the castle. With a little crown and removable goggles, they are fun toys by themselves.

The castle is large and is pretty simple to build. My boys liked both building it and making up adventures for the minions afterwards. My boys didn't find as many rebuilds for this set yet, but they came up with many adentures for the original build, which is a good thing.

Overall, this set was a lot of fun!

Minions are the best!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We received the product and immediately all the kids were surrounding it. Even the 18 year old, who is a huge fan of anything you can build. My seven year old daughter was more interested in the Minions than anything else. She started on it and quickly got bored and just played with the minions. My eighteen year old took over and it took him 5 hours of work to put the entire thing together. It came out perfect and looked great. Very durable though.

My first opinion on this was the age might need to be upped. Not that a 5 year old could not handle it. I believe that since it took an eighteen year old 5 solid hours to work on this, a younger child would have a hard time keeping focused. And with such it is a very good chance that some of the 786 pieces could be lost in the process. My oldest had to really separate the pieces which were small to be able to keep things going.

If you do get this for a 5 - 7 year old I would recommend lots of baggies for the parts. Separate them into bags to keep the part loss to a minimum. I would be a good continuing project for a child though.

When completed it is a good play set to platy with and very durable. Great overall product. Had pictures of the process but no place to upload them.

Great Product, just better for higher age range

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Horrible toy and even worse directions! First off this toy can not be put together by a child, the directions are almost impossible to read and all the pieces look the same. It took my husband and I five hours to put this together. As we were working we found several key pieces missing (thankfully we borrowed some legos from my son) and the pieces were really hard to snap together. Both of us had sore hands and backs for days after putting this thing together. As for play value, my kids are already bored with it! Thankfully I got this for free to review, I would have demanded my money back otherwise.
