I absolutely love my Cuisinart Mix It In Soft Serve Ice Cream Maker! The ice cream does not take long to make. My first time making I followed the directions and the recipe given in the booklet provided and it was a breeze. Also very delicious! I can't wait to try other flavors.

Best decision I have ever made

What a fun addition to my kitchen! It is easy and quick to make our own delicious, soft-serve ice cream. Easy cleaning, too. Of course, the kids absolutely love it and were more excited about getting this than their toys at Christmas.

I bought this soft serve ice cream maker so my grandkids would have something to do when they come to visit. We made our first batch and their first response was, “this is the best ice cream I've ever had”, I guess that saids it all. Putting it together and the preparation of the ice cream was so easy. I give it two thumbs up!

Great Soft Serve Ice Cream Maker

The owner's manual includes a lot of recipes for ice creams, sorbets, frozen drinks, and sauces. I just mix everything together ahead of time in my blender, then keep the pitcher of the ice cream base in the refrigerator until about 30 minutes before I'm ready to serve. Turn on the machine, pour in the base, and that's it. I really like the extra features too: 3 topping holders/dispensers, a sauce warmer, and an ice cream cone holder.

Easy to Use and Great Results

Used this to make ice cream for 5 kids plus 2 adults! Only took about 30 minutes for the ice cream to be ready. I used vanilla ice cream recipe from the book. The kids said it was the best I've cream they ever had before they knew I made the ice cream from scratch! The mix ins part is a bit messy as it really shoots out but I think that probably adds to the fun for the kids lol. I expected the bowl to thaw out much faster than it actually did. We had a great maiden voyage with this little machine!

Great Maiden voyage!

The first time I used it, the ice cream didn't get thick or hard enough. It was like ice cream soup. I followed the instructions precisely - preparing the mixture ahead of time and refrigerating, and freezing the bowl in a chest freezer for 24 hours. After doing some research online, I found a suggestion that the ice cream mixture should be placed in the freezer for approximately 30 minutes before placing it into the ice cream maker. This has been the key. Still need to fine-tune the texture/thickness/consistency, but I'm happy to find that this has a much creamier texture than the old home-made ice cream freezers did.

If you're a true fan of soft serve ice cream then you will enjoy the small parties you can have with this machine.  It makes a good product but warning, it has parts to assemble and disassemble to clean with each use.  Some people will not prefer the maintenance process!

Yummy Ice Cream for Soft Serve Fans

For the most part this is a great product. It would have been nice if it had a timer or alarm to let you know when the ice cream is ready. Mine froze to the point that the ice cream would not come out.

Too frozen

I've used it twice now and the clean up afterwards is a bit annoying because you have to pull several pieces for washing and wait for the main compartment to melt all the way before cleaning and putting back in the freezer. There is no cooling/freezing mechanism, you just have to freeze the inside piece overnight and then put whatever you want in it and turn on the machine to stir it until it is the right consistency. So you cannot do like a frozen margarita mix and then make ice cream right after, 1 item per day basically.

Works great - clean up and reset is a bit much

Disappointed in the machine.  The instructions aren't clear and all I have gotten is soup so far, whereas other machines have brought on ice cream.   It looks cool just doesn't work.  Sprinkles go everywhere so need a big bowl.  I liked the recipe book.  I just am disappointed overall.
