I do Trail Maintence volunteer work and I need to be able to carry my base weight gear of 16lbs, 8lbs/gallon of initial water plus 6lbs of food for 5 days. I then need to carry another 30lbs of Crew Gear some of which is oddly sized likes stoves & Rotopac. My daily work pack once in the Backcountry is a Six Moon Dedigned Minimalist. Your pack swallowed that pack whole allowing me to just pull it out once at Base Camp and head out to my assigned work area. The two packs combined make a perfect plug & play team for me. Big bulky weights yet instant access to an already packed daily work pack. I just leave my bladder in the Minimalist and thread it through your portal while hiking in initially.

Perfect hauler to Backcountry Base Camps

I am a big fan of Mystery Ranch and the 3-zip design (for a urban day pack I use the Coulee 25, for a hiking day pack I use 2 Day Assault and for weekend and overnight hiking I have the 3-day Assault) and this pack fits right in. 

I love the design and the versatility of the overload shelf allowing me to combine a Roll Top Hauler (whether it be a 25L or 40L) to increase the capacity at will. 

This is one of the most comfortable and versatile packs that I own.  Kudos Mystery Ranch on the design!

Outstanding pack - comfortable and very versatile

Some background: I went from carrying a heavy backpacking setup (30+ lbs baseweight) to a much lighter setup (12 lbs) several years ago.  I started doing trail work and with saws, axes, wedges, etc and my lightweight pack (full framed with hip belt) was really not made for that and I would really feel it after a couple hours.  I started worrying about durability as we take pack on/off dozens to hundreds of times a day.   I also wanted a pack to replace my Alps Outdoors Z Commander + Freighter frame for hunting, which was good for the price but the comfort, durability, features and massive size never worked great for my needs. 

I took a chance on this pack as it was expensive and heavy, sitting well over twice the weight of my existing pack.  The quality is top notch, but I was surprised how well this heavy pack rides.  The excellent hip belt, external frame, and high load lifters really make this pack ride nicely.  The sling load capability works well for my axe, pruning saws, heavy ropes, and I'm sure my electric chainsaw will fit nicely there as well. No opportunity to haul out animal yet either.  I'll update this when I have more opportunity to use it more in the field, but so far very impressed.  Two cons: expensive and limited color choices.

Heavy & expensive, but a versatile well made pack

I have owned now about three weeks and I can tell you the comfort is great. I bought the Terraframe 50 because of my past experience with Mystery Ranch in Special Operations issued me their bags before and they were durable and reliable essential gear. The quality is top notch and it rides comfortable and my back.

Awesome pack!

Solid bag. Probably should have gone with the 65 liter in hindsight but that's my own fault. The overload feature is a life save though. Simple enough that even I could figure it out too which is a huge plus. Solid waterproof as I got caught in a downpour followed by a snowstorm on a recent overnight venture. Shoulder straps were comfy with a 35lb bag on my 155lb scrawny self. Waist straps dug in pretty rough after about 7 miles but that's probably cause my flat rear end. 

A plethora of tensioning straps on the bag really come in handy and it has plenty of versatility to strap additional items to the outside of the pack. 

Overall, would highly recommend to anyone in the market. As my buddy would say, why simply survive when you could thrive?

Buy once, cry once

I was having trouble deciding between two of the overload packs that Mystery Ranch sells. I called customer service with a list of questions.  They helped me make an informed decision. I am completely satisfied with my Terraframe 50 and Mystery Ranch.

Terraframe 50

Absolutely THE MOST COMFORTABLE backpack I have ever worn - bar none.  The MR adjustable torso length, coupled with the super comfortable waistbelt system, completes a truly custom, individualized, perfect fit to your body.  The tri-zip feature on the pack itself is superior to ANY other pack I have ever used; 100% total accessibility to anything, anywhere on the inside. Rugged and durable, this pack will last me for the rest of my life.

Mystery Ranch ROCKS!

Purchased this pack after much research and after retiring my 20 year old pack. Fantastic quality with amazing comfort and structure. First hike was 23 miles three day excursion at 10,000 feet. Pack did phenomenal. Super comfortable and with the 3 zipper access getting gear was easy and quick.

Best Pack I have Had!

Replaced a 15 year old 55L pack that is no longer available with this pack - the Terraframe 3-zip 50L. The 3 zip has amazing access and packs easily. Excellent carry when loaded! Really comfortable and the overload zone on this makes it the most versatile pack I have ever owned. I have packs from 30L to 80L, this pack could likely replace them all. The adjustability is also fantastic.

I dig this pack

Purchased for many adventures to come.  The downeast weather won't give in just yet so this is not a full review.
The suspension system is amazing!  Compared to other brands such as Kelty and Mountainsmith (two opposite sides of the spectrum), the adjustments are simple, reliable, and quick.  When loaded for a3-day trip, the pack conforms and rides great with zero lateral play.  The tri-zip opening makes access a dream, with no worries about all gear spilling out.  If you're a gear-junkie, the lack of external pockets may bother you.  I like it because it keeps the whole unit slimline.  My only complaint so far is the lack of color assortments.  While my inner-Marine appreciates the loden, the only other option is bland yet out of place in most environments.  For the price it would be nice to see the pack fly come with it.

No cons or faults yet…
