OK, the folding door brace is the competition to this one, and it has the advantage of fitting anyplace. This one is tougher, easier to just prop in place, and seems to be more sturdy. The plastic parts that hold the other one broke far too soon. The all-metal construction is tougher. The foot of this thing is harder to position properly--it slips more than the other and needs more pressure to set on laminate floor.

Trickier than the usual door brace--reliable.

The adjustable security from Patio to door isn't as adjustable. The adjustment to patio became permanent.

Not adjustable

It made me feel a lot safer in my apartment where I spend most of my nights alone. My son had a seizure last Saturday. Unfortunately he locked the bathroom door. I felt hopeless trying to get to him. I have several health problems.  I decided that I didn't need to prevent everyone from being able to come in. Besides I was in a hurry to open the door one day and it came back and hit my shin. So now I have a big bruise on my shin. Don't get me wrong it works well but with my health issues it would be stupid to have to call 911 and when they get here they couldn't get to me.

not what i expected it cant set against the door

This item is not made of thick, high-quality metal at all. You could easily bend it with your hands. When we adjusted the height to put it on the door to secure the door, the rubber piece for the under of it literally just slid across the floor and the door opened as if there was nothing there. I would not suggest this item to secure your door at all. We requested a refund on day one.
