Finally found a pair of Jean shorts that fit and look right! Usually they either pinch my waist and/or my thighs and just look terrible. These are the opposite. 170lbs 5'3 athletic rectangular figure with some “fluff” in the belly and thighs. 2 kids and covid weight has not been good to me. These actually make me feel confident in Jean shorts again! I typical fit In 30 in jeans, got size 30 and could have probably gotten 29 once they wear in, but I like my shorts to be pretty loose.

I'm 5'2 130 pounds with a smaller waist and larger butt/thighs. I sized down one size to 24 and theyre so perfect. I saw someone say that there are probably no bodies that would fit these but if you are short with a muscular build THESE ARE FOR YOU! And since they're 100% cotton, they are slightly loose around the waist without falling down at all because they just sit on your hips. So you can sit down, bend down, etc without it cutting into your waist. So a really awesome casual beachy look that still looks really nice and is flattering as heck. Awesome for short muscular bodies!

I struggle with shorts. I WANT to love them but most often feel like a sausage busting out of my casing or needing to dig them out of my crotch when I stand up.
I finally found some that fit! They don't cut off circulation to the rest of my legs. I don't have to do the dance where I pull my shorts out of my crotch. They aren't so high waisted they feel like they are holding up my boobs (I am 5'1, it's a problem). They aren't too short they are indecent on someone with any booty at all.
They do run large, I typically take a 26 in my jeans at madewell and I took these in a 25 but probably could take it in a 24.
I would buy this in all colors!

Thighs like Beyoncé? This is for you

I love the relaxed fit! The length is great for my long legs. They are short enough to be trendy but not so short that they wouldn't be appropriate for any occasion. The material is light and perfect for spring days. I love that they are not tight on my thighs but still offer a slim silhouette.

Comfort and Style!

I was nervous ordering these due to the sizing comments in the existing reviews (with some saying to size up and some saying to size down). I got my normal size and a size down. I really love these and actually I could wear my normal size (26) they fit perfectly (relaxed/comfy/not baggy) however knowing they are 100% cotton and will relax with wear, I chose to keep the one size smaller which also fit great (just a little less relaxed look). Still comfortable from first wear and perfect at the waist, and already loosening up a bit from an afternoon of wear. I went back for this same cut in two other washes, I love them so much, I feel stylish without feeling like a teenager and the length on them is great for me (not too short). I had to come review to see if I can help anyone else with sizing because they are worth ordering. I'm 5'8” and 135lbs and usually wear a 26, kept the 25's in these.

Love these

Was so surprised when these shorts fit - and looked good - on my new postpartum body. Was size 29/30 pre-pregnancy and went up to a size 31 in these given the extra 10lbs I'm carrying. The weight/stiffness of the denim works great, the waist fits my athletic shape, and the leg holes are not tight on my thighs. I've had a depressing time finding clothes that will work postpartum and these were a welcomed surprise.

Finally a pair of shorts that fit postpartum

i am 5'2” 115 lbs petite. i ordered my usual size 24P and was so excited for these shorts. i was so bummed when i opened the bag because i could clearly tell the shorts were going to be waaaay too big. the size 24 in these shorts are definitely way bigger than your average 24. they run large. i didn't even bother reordering in a size 23, knowing that they would still probably be too big on me.

I am a 26 in Madewell jeans and a 26/27 typically. The 26 in these shorts was way too big for me, and I'm not sure if I've ever worn a 25 in anything.. My advice is to size down, but the shorts are well made otherwise! For reference, I'm 5'5", 135 with athletic thighs.

Great quality shorts, but run BIG!

These shorts are simply not made for a curvy, hourglass figure. My measurements are 36-29-43” and I ordered these in a 30 and 28. My normal size is 29-30. I sent back the 30's already but measured the waist on the 28's: it's 34”! Six inches wider than advertised. I'm keeping the 28's, even though there's a solid 5 inch gap. The shorts are cute and I like them, but the sizing is insane.

Huge gap in waist

Madewell, what is going on with these shorts? They're super cute and I love the color and style but how on earth do you expect people to figure out their size in these. Most of the time, I wear a 27 in MW jeans, occasionally sizing down to a 26. I ordered these shorts in a 26 based on the reviews and they're easily 2 sizes too big. How is it that I can fit into this many different sizes from ONE BRAND? Figuring out your correct size is a complete crap shoot. PLEASE make your sizing a bit more consistent.
