This is my second Magellan Roadmate. My first one was a 4" version. This version has the ability to have downloads to get updates. I've always liked the ease of entering your destination addresses and the different options for different routes, etc. The mounting bracket is better than the old version. Not being used to the larger screen (1" larger doesn't seem like a big difference) I found that I was looking around it more not wanting my view to be blocked. The price from Walmart was very good compared to the other retailers who offered this product. I use it with my RV and always enter all of my destination addresses prior to departure, and with very little effort, can pull up each route when we start our trip for the day. I won't leave home without my Magellan GPS. The more expensive versions that have all the bells and whistles don't always pay off.

After reviewing all the different GPS unit's I found this one to have all the features that I was wanting especially free lifetime updates & traffic alerts. Very easy to use for older individuals like me and my Husband. Just plug it in and go. I would recommend this 5" unit to any one, and also buy it as a gift for someone wanting one.

Best value and features for price!

I own this paticular roadmate and I gave my brother one new one as a gift. The gps in his company truck is so outdated I worry about him getting lost. He does field sales and it was the only one I would give or recommend

Was disappointed that this one did not show the speed limit for the majority of travel but otherwise very dependable and maps are great for my travels.

GPS as expected

I fully charged the unit, registered it, and updated the maps and software via Magellan

The first outing, the GPS took over 14 miles for it to acquire a signal (even with clear skies) . Even then the GPS had me travelling off road , and way back from my actual position, then it lost signal.
All very difficult to talk around when your wife is sitting next to you asking whats going on!

Yes, I set the GPS position and I did the hard reset before you ask.

Called Magellan (another 45 minute wait) then installed the GPS ‘fix” file they sent me a link to. The satellite acquisition took circa 8 miles , however, it still had me travelling off road more than on, and it still loses signal

If you want a GPS that is very slow, really intermittent and inaccurate, this is for you

This was a new unit, not a refurb. It went back to Walmart for a refund.

Strange the Tomtom unit I replaced it with acquired satellite signal before I had the car in reverse and the GPS position is really good

I am in transportation business. A GPS is a must tool. On day 1, I needed to go to 50 locations. It led me to wrong spots 2 times. After that, I had to pull over to look at a map. I definitely need to return it.

2 wrong directions in one day

We have used this GPS for two vacations and several other small trips. It really helped us get to where we were going without any mishaps. It no longer says "calculating" which is great. We still get "make a legal U turn" sometimes. But if I have chosen a different way to go than the way she wanted me to go, I just keep going. Eventually she catches up.
