they stack on top each other great, easy to assemble and holds many hard cover books without getting the sag and warp. they hold up extremely great, there is no difference between the ones I bought 5 years ago and the ones I just got which is fantastic for the growing home library that fills the wall in my daughter's room. the only thing I wish is the backing covered the whole back and not just every other cube. will definitely purchase again

This is my second time buying the Mainstays 9 Cube Storage Organizer in black, and honestly that should tell you everything. The first one held up so well, I went right back and got another for my teenager's room.

It's super sturdy, the quality is really good, and it handles everyday use with no issues—bins, shoes, random teen clutter… all of it. It also keeps the room looking way more organized without taking up too much space.

Definitely a great buy if you need something reliable that actually lasts.

Great to organize

Me and my family are on a budget but we are about to welcome a new baby and need space. I am using this for a side dresser to hold sine newborn things since we have limited space so far for that purpose it is very well. You can decorate it and make it stand out too if you'd like I'm very happy with my purchase and I do recommend this product while it is a little shaky, it could be the way it was put together however it is standing and looking good

Creative looking and good storage

Great organizer shelf and we love the Target branded cubby shelfs as it doesn't have visible particle board showing on one side like others. It's great for the price. You could always do a DIY project with it to create something in your home or office. It's not a sturdy shelf but it does the job overall. It can easily scratch and get water damage but its a good shelf for the price, it could probably be a cheaper shelf but its works.

Great heater that heats fast!

I thought I was following directions when assembling.  I was putting the layers together vertically. Please assemble horizontally to avoid everything collapsing when pushing the long boards onto the pegs.  now that 2 middle pieces are broken, I actually have one layer that has no dividers. I like it better this way, but you might not.

caution while assembling

assembly was a bit tedious but other then that i'm happy with my purchase!! the dowels are plastic and were a bit unstable during assembly but hold up just fine when the cube organizer is fully assembled. overall a 4/5, asking somebody else to build it if i repurchase 😂

I have bought cube storage over the years and this build is kinda a pain by yourself. make sure you have space. You only screw in the outside boards and the rest is held with pegs. For YouTubers, this would be up there with IKEA building-if you know what I mean. this board falls, pick it up the otherside falls. My kid tried to help but yeah... so beware BUT totally worth me freaking out. I've got 2. The kids TV is 43" and that's the biggest you can go with this. Also bought colored storage cubes for color pop.

Potentially stressful build

The shelf looks good enough, but was difficult to put together. And once it was finished, it wasn't sturdy at all. I'm afraid to put it in my granddaughter's room for books or toys. I'm afraid it will collapse on her.  I bought two and am returning the one I did not put together yet. The moral of of the story is you get what you pay for. I paid $25 more for  one from Ikea, but it has taken a beating and continues to stand! I'll go grab another from there.

Cheap.is cheap.

I haven't bought a cube shelf in years, but I was in need of one for my kid's room and thus ordered from Walmart. However, upon assembling the unit, I was dismayed to find the plastic dowels provided were flimsy and insufficient. Following a fruitless search for suitable dowels, I planned to employ wood hot glue to reinforce the structure. Unfortunately, the assembly process was further compromised when the components malfunctioned, bending the plastic dowels and breaking the cheap particleboard.  $45 on this unit and $20 on additional materials. I will proceed with returning the defective shelf tomorrow.

Cheap cheap cheap

plastic dowels too small for the project type. most cheap cabinets have a solid piece of cardboard to hold the back together, not this one... its a couple small  pieces. screws immediately strip out the worst mdf board ive ever come across. currently adding wood glue, brackets, and a proper backing. bought on sale (shocking i know) some deals  are too good to be true  DO NOT BUY
