Suitable for serving various meal portions.

Has a solid, true black color that blends with other dishware.

Perfect for individual meal portions and serving bowls.

really love these bowl plate things they are great for having small portion of food and don't want sliding everywhere and off the plate so I bought four of them and everybody always wants to use them

walmart.com

This is the perfect size for a salad that's a meal. It's so easy to clean and much healthier than that plastic thing that would absorb the tomato color if not washed immediately. Ceramic or glass is the way to go.

New salad bowl

I use this bowl as a plate or a bowl. Love them. I have six that match up with the same pattern mugs and a white shiny bowl with black rim. Also six pcs.

I bought these fora gift for my daughter and she loves them! The color is classy and food looks so good on them! they are heavy but are just the right size for serving dishes like rice and pasta!

beautiful dishes for serving pasta or rice!

I bought this to go with dishes that I previously bought, not Mainstays Alessandra Matte but black in color. These go well with them and I'm pleased that it is very near the style of other Mainstays dinner bowls. Check the size specifics for the best comparison.
This style is better for salad than for soup because it is more like a plate than a bowl. This style is also referred to as a pasta bowl.

Good addition

I had been wanting these bowl plates. but everyone i going them they were white or just a color that didn't match my kitchen. The matte black finish are perfect. I love the fact that these are microwave and dishwasher safe. Before serving meals, I will put boiling water in the bowl plate to heat it up so the food says hot longer. Perfect for creamy/ saucy dishes.

Perfect date night at home dinners.

These are very nice! They are heavy and a great size. They are perfect for pasta or messy dishes. The only downside is they can chip if you are not careful. That being said they do clean very well. Overall I would recommend these. For the price they are a great value.

Good Dishes and a great price!

These bowl/plates are a perfect size %26 shape. I prefer them to regular flat plates now. I love the appearance of the satin black finish, although it doesn't seem like a hard enough glaze. One of these arrived with a tiny chip on the rim, and there are imperfections like ripples %26 bumps in the glaze. Overall, that's okay, but these do have to be babied. Not sure how well they'd do with repeated dishwasher cycles because I handwash everything anyway. I hope this bowl/plate trend continues well into the future because they're so sensible besides looking attractive.

I just purchased 3 sets of these dishes. ive beed eyeing them %26 then they went on sale! i had to go to another store to get the 3rd set though. im considering buying another set in case of breakage. I initially was concerned about scratches but am pleased to say they are holding up very well, so far.

While I cannot fault the quality of this bowl in terms of physical appearance/esthetics, the design leaves something to be desired inasmuch as it takes extra thought to maintain a grip on it. So for folks with a lot on their minds or young kids trying to set the table....I'd give these bowls a hard pass. I liked their last design better.

Not a fan

I ordered just one replacement and it has several dimpled flaws on the edge which make it look chipped even though the glaze is present.

Also, they don't nestle into each other. Who wants dishes that don't stack well?

Mainstays Alessandra Matte Black Stoneware Dinner Bowl centered front view of a single 8.6" (21.8 cm) matte black stoneware bowl with smooth matte glaze, rounded rim and deep curved profile. Microwave safe and dishwasher safe; may get hot in microwave. Suitable for serving soup, goulash or ice cream and often used as a cereal or prep bowl.
