So far so good for the price you can't beat these Mainstay kitchen knives I purchased at Walmart.   Great deal. I purchased 3 different sizes and like them all. Only had them for a couple of weeks and they do what they suppose to. Told a friend and he went and purchased 2 of each size. He loves them in the Kitchen he tells me.

First of all, I got this for less than a dollar, so I wasn't expecting much.  I actually bought three of them thinking I'd be lucky if the first one didn't break after the first use.  After almost a month of daily use, the first one is still going strong, I haven't even opened the other two knives yet.  This knife is pretty big, fairly sharp, and is stronger than it looks.  It can slice up a rotisserie chicken in moments but could handle a watermelon as well. Some say it rusts within days but I hand wash mine daily and haven't had that problem at all. The included sheath is a nice touch!

Can't Believe It Only Cost $1!

Knife came, and I didn't expect much for the price, but it is very good for all kinds of kitchen chores, and I  don't have to get out my expensive carving knives for every little cutting job.

Very nice especially 4 the price

i needed to replace a santuku 5"knife or utility knife that keeps getting stolen in robberies at my apartment but this available substitute works well enough to chop veggies and meat plus open a package or wrap

This knife design is simple and on a budget it does the Job I used mines to cut potatoes i bought 20lbs of poatotes and prep them for deep freeze and this knife was the charm it really did the job that I needed it to do..

Budget Friendly Knife

this was such a good deal for the price it is almost unbelievable. I mean it's not a top chef knife. but it is actually a good quality knife for this very low price and I was very impressed.

The knife is fine, and the price was perfect, however, it's serrated, and that's not really what I wanted.  You can't sharpen a serrated knife with your normal kitchen sharpener.  It cuts okay, I guess, but for how long?  I will have to go find a real chef's knife that I can sharpen when the need arises.

Note that this is serrated.  You can't sharpen it.

Close your eyes and imagine...you just came home from Walmart where you purchased a kitchen knife for 98 cents %26 a few groceries. You're standing there knife in hand and begin cut into some (insert your fave veggie here)....
Whatever you're picturing is exactly how it is. It's a knife for less than a dollar. You know what you're getting. 
  You probably won't be making perfect slices rivaling the always timid chef Gordon Ramsay - but it's super cheap %26 it'll do in a pinch. 
The Mainstays Chef Kitchen Knife is definitely an example of "you get what you pay for". If you've got some (extremely) light duty cutting to do, if it doesn't matter if whatever you're cutting ends up a little janky, and if you don't wanna spend a few more dollars on something better...then this is the knife for you :)
It'll cut some things and it costs less than $1. With that in mind - it's exactly what you'd expect.

It'll cut...not great, but it's less than $1!

Bought it to slice veggies, tomatoes for sandwiches, etc. Does the job but not nicely. Drags across the tomatoes and is more like sawing than slicing. But what can you expect for under a buck? Won't buy anymore, that's for sure. Will invest in something a little more expensive.
