We buy those mattress covers regularly for use in our Guest Suites. This way we can protect the mattresses from excessive wear and tear and stains. It is easy to put on and holds in place.

Happy with this purchase to complement the memory foam purchase for my young son . Product fits well and is sound. It is also easy to clean. Gives me peace of mind knowing in the comfort of my son sleep his foamy will also last and withstand the damage of anything spilled or accidents that happen on his bed.

Happy with my purchase

It's essentially a vinyl bag that slips over your mattress and zips up. It's about the same thickness as a rain poncho, and after it's zipped, it's nearly air tight let alone water tight. Some care should be taken when slipping the product on, as the material will tear if too much force is applied. After the product is on, and the excess air has been removed from the bag, you won't even notice it. It makes no sound, and will vacuum fit to the mattress. The material will stretch, so it should be fairly tear resistant for daily use, but be wary that sharp objects or pets claws will weaken or puncture the material. While it says to refrain from mentioning the price, I think the price actually has a lot to do with my satisfaction with the purchase of this product. For the price, you won't find better. Quality and fit is surprisingly good as well. Bought the product for the control of dust mites, and I've got to say, encasing the entire mattress seems rather more reliable than merely covering the top and sides.

Exactly as stated

When first installed, it is quiet (no crackly sound) and waterproof.  It seems though that the plastic begins to degrade quickly -- after about a month, things start to happen.  After about 6 months, the cover is so brittle and badly cracked, it's pretty much useless.  For me, it starts with an elbow puncturing the sheet, when I'm either getting into or out of bed.  It's all downhill from there.  I have found that plastic packing tape helps hold the tears together, delaying the inevitable.  3 stars rather than 1 because it's a necessary evil for me.

Good price, but poor quality. The cover tore up by putting it on the mattress. It is still usable.

I have to do it regularly, not to mention the times my son jumps on the bed! Otherwise, good value for money!

Hardly stay in place

I didn't even get a chance to try it before I noticed it was already beginning to tear near the elastic fitting.  Because it's not likely worth the hassle of returning, I'll use it any way.  But I have no faith that it's going to last very long.  I am very disappointed and will never buy another Mainstay product.

It was already starting to tear when I got it.

I got this about 3 weeks ago and the cover has already literally started to tear. And it doesn't seem to tear near the edges but near the center... where I sleep. And not just in 1 spot either. It's literally tearing in multiple spots. The most major one though is near the center. This is 1 item I'm NEVER going to buy again. Covers are meant to last for at least 2 months... not less then 3 weeks.

I opened the bag and i was super excited because it seemed like exactly what I was looking for. I begin putting it on my new mattress and I was surprised to see 2 tears about 3 inches long where the cover had been folded. Disappointing to see, as i i had just laid it out on top to make sure it'd fit..... hope they wont fuss about an exchange at customer service!

Ripped in the bag....

Bought this to go over my toddlers new big girl bed so if she had an accident it would protect her mattress. It didn't even last 3 months. It tore to pieces in no time under the sheet and pre got on the mattress before I realized and now the foam pad under had to be thrown out. Spend a bit more on something better.
