I am so pleased I bought this book! It is very inspiring, and the author writes in a chatty, accessible way. I had messed around with apps, but basically didn't know what it was I wanted to paint. This book really has got me started. It covers a LOT of ground, and I particularly loved the project on the cherry blossom, Van Gogh's sunflowers, as well as the section on how to compose a painting.

Some specifics on how to use the apps are covered by following the projects through - the tips are built in to each of the lessons, rather than in a separate section. For some of them, you can use your own preferred app if you want – which is great because this book won't go out of date with each new app update. Most apps have tutorials built in anyway.

There's a bit of art history in here too, and some fun facts. The projects are creative and fresh, and are structured around classic skills and genres taught in art schools, so you will actually learn real art skills.

Also, it's one the best laid-out art books I've bought – each page is colorful and interesting. Overall, it really is a pleasure to read. I think it's a excellent book for anyone who likes art, and wants to try iPad drawing and painting.
