I bought this tent and received it the day I was going on a car camping trip.  As a fairly experienced outdoorsman, I knew I was taking a risk by unpacking my tent for the first time at the campsite but I did it anyway, trusting the Marmot brand.

I got to my campsite in the dark so I was nervous about unboxing and pitching the tent.  Setup couldn't have been easier for a tent this size.  I set it up by myself and took all but about 10 minutes.

It rained on us both nights and we stayed dry...very happy with this tent so far.

Great through 2 nights in rain

I purchased the Marmot Limestone 4P just prior to a trip my son and I took to the Boundary Waters Canoe Wilderness.  We both found the tent easy to set up with only two main poles, extremely roomy, and loved the maximum access doors in both the front and back.  We endured two days of rain but the tent keep us completely dry. The front vestibule kept our gear dry and provided a dry space to enter and exit the tent while the back vestibule sheltered firewood from the rain.  Well thought out design with plenty of pocket storage and a headlamp hook inside the top of the tent.

Marmot Limestone 4P tent

We bought the 3 person Limelight tent.  Loved the tent but found it too small for 2 people plus gear.  We replaced it with the 4 person Limestone tent. Love the roominess, two door feature with vestibule, excellent ventilation, easy set up and quality construction.  Cons: we miss the small see-through vestibule  "window"  found in the 3-person Limestone tent.  The footprint, which is a must, should be included with the tent and not sold separately.

3 person tent too small for 2 people

I used this tent for the first time last weekend on a 2-night/3-day camping trip to a local state park I frequent for short getaways. The tent is easy to set-up and take down by one person (unless there's a pretty good breeze). I previously had been using Marmot's Limelight 3P (which I also really really like) but as I'm getting older (coming up on the big 60) I needed a tent in which I would walk rather than crawl. The Limestone 4P isn't quite as tall as I am, but allows me to step into and out of it comfortably. As a single camper, there's great gobs of space in this tent for all of my gear, plus a chair if the weather turns liquid. The attached storage pockets all around the inside are handy for keeping smaller items secure and out of the way, plus the flashlight pockets up top allow for total illumination of the inside. A handy pocket sewn into the rain fly just above and to the right of the main door is a great place to keep a flashlight handy or other items that you may want to keep in reach without having to open the tent. My one complaint is that the separately-purchased footprint does not directly attach to the rain fly as does the footprint for my Limelight 3P. Until the Limestone is securely staked down, the tent and the footprint don't really connect well and separate easily. I would like to see Marmot rework the footprint to securely attach to the rainfly like the other model. The build of the Limestone is pretty darn good for a large tent. The two air vents built into the rainfly are pretty nifty, but don't do very much for air circulation. The corded poles are well made and easy to install. As someone who has never ever been able to put the tent away in the same fashion as I opened it the very first time, it's nonetheless easy to stuff into the generous storage bag that was supplied. Overall, I'm extremely pleased with this new tent purchase.

Well built and spacious

Love our new Tent!! Size is great, quality is impecable, features are all wonderful and helpful. A lot of thought was put into the design of tent. I do wish both doors had the mesh netting zip up doors.

Overall great tent!!

The beauty of this tent is both in the tent itself, as well as how much it gets out of your way to appreciate your surroundings. Every aspect of the construction feels top-notch. Assembly is easily accomplished in just a couple of minutes. Once inside, the tent is cavernous for two people, comfortable for three, and cozy for four. The openness affords spectacular views above and out the mesh side, with privacy provided by the opposing wall.  Should you be somewhere crowded or run into inclement weather, the rainfly has you covered and dry.

Beautiful Tent

Marmot Limestone 4 is well made, lightweight, easy to set up, and has good head height and plenty of room for 4.
But more of a summer tent than 3 season, as the tent is mostly screen material and the rainfly allows major drafts inside, especially under the front and rear vestibules.

Marmot Limestone 4 person tent

We bought the 2P Limelight tent from Marmot years ago and have loved it. Used it many times in all different kinds of weather. It's easy to set up and always kept us dry and comfortable. Now that we have two kids, we gotta have a bigger tent! I'm quite happy with the Limestone. The setup is familiar, and although we've only used it once, I'm hopeful it will be as reliable as the Limelight in terms of sturdiness and weather-proofing. Our kids are ages 1 and 4, and it's spacious enough for us - but we're not the kind of campers who need a roomy tent for hanging out or lots of extra gear. Who wants to stay cooped up in a tent with a 1 and 4 year old? When the kids get bigger, maybe it would feel cramped. But at that point, I'll be looking forward to kicking them out into their own tent. The only thing that would make this tent better is if the door was mesh on both sides for visibility, and if it had straps to tie down my one-year old when he starts crawling around at 1 AM hassling everybody.

Good tent for young family of four

Giving 4 stars for build quality, ease of setup, looks, smooth zippers, great size, and that it's a free standing 2-main-pole tent (plus 2 aux poles). And it's Marmot.

Why I would not recommend:
1. Huge, beautiful, half-the-tent sized mesh screen... but when, in any typical situation, are you not going to put the rain fly up? This means this beautiful feature (of course) is covered by the fly. A clear skylight would have been a great bonus in the fly.

2. No screen on the back door, which makes it a wall. Because everywhere you camp has flies, bees, ants, spiders, etc.... Which means no cross wind air flow (not to mention the fly is on which restricts any air flow).

3. Curious why this doesn't have a porch and awning setup like the Torreya??? All the anchor points are there, just the zipper design is changed so it's a "roll-to-the-side" front door.

4. The color attracts bees. Really does.

5. This is a one season tent only. August nights in the mountains in Oregon in 60 deg, and this is a cold tent.

6. Marmot, please always include a footprint. That one is confusing.

7. Only 3 of the four fly corners have clips, the fourth you have to tie the straps together by hand. Not sure if mine was a defect? But a bit clunky.

Great but impractical

I am not much of a person to review products, but I am reviewing this tent because it is important to tell others the quality is poor.  I have only used this tent 2 times since receiving and there is already a seam tear at the bottom of one door entry. 

Positives....very spacious which was the purpose of this tent purchase.  I was just hoping for the Marmot standard quality in their products.
