Ribs have a crunchy exterior and tender inside.

I have had a few smokers in my day, but this is the best. First out: brisket, sausage, ribs, pheasant, quail and chicken thighs. plenty of room and all were excellent.

Masterbuilt Smoker is GREAT!!!!!   Uses half the wood chips prev. smoker did.  Two problems, sometimes blows GFI and when it gets up to temperature shuts off and drops 50 degrees F and then goes back up to set temp., so you have to watch it.  Does a perfect job, cooked a 7 lb. duck with dressing, it was delicious and we cold smoked farmers sausage and they turned out excellent.

This thing works great heats up to what ever temp you need. Easy to use. Only bad mark is I wish it was wider have to put ribs in at an angle.

it is  great smoker and the temp gage helped. the only downfall s iit woud be.easier to move with wheels.

I bought this smoker from Masterbuilt...I received a partial item. I received a completely sealed package, with missing components(see photo)  I had to figure out was the right part and go to the hardware store a purchase. The smoker won't maintain correct temp. Doesnt heat up enough to smoke. I had to burn the chips with a blow torch to get even the smallest amount of smoke. The smoker pan was incorrectly built so the lid wouldn't fit. I had to fix that as well. All in all, would not recommend.

Disappointed..

I've used this twice in the month I've had it and I'm not a fan. Hard to set a steady temperature and hardly smokes at all.

Don't go analog

This is our second Masterbuilt smoker. So this is kind of a review on two of them.  The first one was a digital remote controlled with a glass door. After two times of use, it would not stay on after 15 - 30 minutes, and we would have to try setting it 3 - 4 times before it would actually stay on. It became a chore to smoke anything! So we ended up not using it for a couple of years. After moving we tried it again, and it would only stay on for 10 minutes.  So..... Masterbuilt smokers have such a good reputation and we thought we got a lemon the first time, we thought we would try an analog version - one we could control directly. The first time we tried it, the temperature was set for 225 for a 3 hour recipe  and it would not go higher than 200, and seemed to maintain mostly at 180 and we ended up smoking for almost 5 hours! The day was an upper 70s degree day with a slight breeze. We  are just real disappointed!

Really dissappointed

It's good for making jerky where you need to use a low heat for a few hours but on a cold day it doesn't go past 150...on a warm day I haven't seen it get past 180 which isn't great bc a lot of smoker recipes call for 225-250. I usually end up smoking for a few hours and then finishing it in the oven. Wish I spent more for a better one.

Doesn't get hot enough

The smoker was on High for 4 hours and never went past 125 degrees on the upper rack. Had to pull food out to cook in the oven. I think Masterbuilt should do a better job explaining the smoker capabilities. Maybe the smoker would have been better in the summer but in New England it's cold a majority of the year and this smoker has no insulation to retain heat to properly cook the meat.

Never Hot Enough to Cook Food

This smoker won't maintain a proper smoking temperature of 225 degrees - the heating element isn't strong enough, and so even at maximum strength it keeps dropping to around 175 degrees after the initial heat burst from the wood chips dies down. Masterbuilt was good enough to send me a replacement heat element, but the problem persists.
