I don't know why some have an issue with temperatures. I put this together and installed the knob so that the off was lined up when the valve was off. According to my digital thermometer - the initial smoke set at 250F had the unit run up to 272F before it started controlling and then it dropped and held at 247 to 255 all night long.  Hard to argue with that. The turkey looks beautiful. The build quality was good. Only one issue with one cooking rack wire welded not quite straight. Doesn't affect use in any way. I did add a door gasket and used a large disposable baking pan on the bottom rack for water in place of the included water pan. What this could benefit from in design is a larger water pan to allow overnight smokes and a larger wood chip/chunk pan. If Masterbuilt came up with these modifications in a retrofit package - I would buy them.

It is a very involved assembly process. The instructions say “35 minutes.”  Set aside at least an hour.  Seems to be a very good product.

Big Smoky.

It wasn't very difficult to put together.  It took about 1.5 hours.  The smoker has been great first two cooks were great.  The food had a nice smoke ring.  So much easier than firing up the big pit.

I'm buying another one!

Was very pleased that little to no smoke by-pass around door or anywhere else. temperature on knob was somewhat accurate with Thermometer placed on the inside. so was good. Wood chip holder was able to hold larger pieces, which was good as chips a bit pricey so i split wood chunks, thus working betta, overall, very pleased with performance.

Assembly would have been much quicker had there been text with the diagrams.  This is the XL model, but quite a bit of smoke escapes out of the front door.  Thought I was buying a smoker that I would not have to babysit while it did the job.  Non-soaked wood chips produce more smoke, but I had to constantly feed the chip box during the smoking process, like every 20 minutes.  Went through the entire box of chips trying to smoke a shoulder.

The XL seemed kinda big when I put it together but I figured too much space is better that coming up short. The smoker assembled pretty easily. Mine had no damaged parts. 
I had a Masterbuilt digital electric and a Masterbuilt charchoal/propane before this that were both destroyed in Fl floods last year.

With a few tweeks that can be found online, I am loving this one!! This might seem like a lot but they're quick and kinda cheap. Most smokers need a few personalized changes. For me anyway:)
   I like a good but not overpowering smokey flavor on most things I smoke. As others have mentioned, it can be hard to get the smoke rolling out of this one. So I did the suggested mod where you remove the tiny wood tray from the door. Then take the 4 screws out and remove the aluminum shield over the flame. 
Then I bought a 12" Lodge cast iron pan, the one with 2 side handles like on a dutch oven, and set it right over the burner with a few pieces of flagstone rock as temp spacers to keep the pan from sitting on the opening. (Later I'll drill a few holes and put some bolts in as little legs).
 I fire it up, throw chunks and some chips in and it works like a champ. Maybe a regular handled cast iron skillet would fit but I didn't have any. 
  I  added a thermometer with a threaded post.  Drilled thru the side and put it 6ish inches from the top on the side. The temps on the adjustment knob are not the most accurate as mentioned in reviews.
  Put some high temp stick-on gasket around edge of both doors. Which sealed it up great but then I had to drill a 1/4 hole in the side to pass thru my corded meat thermometer because it was getting crushed under the seal.
Smoked 2 whole chickens w/cherry wood for 3.5 hrs. AWESOME.
BIG Boston butt w/ hickory chunks 12 hrs . Beautiful bark and tasted great!
  I also bought some flip up shelf brackets online and put a folding shelf on the side.
The glass gets dirty quickly but soap and water after each cook works pretty good.
Still need to get an aluminum pan or something that's bigger than the includedwater pan to catch most of the drippings. The chickens made a total mess in the bottom.

Works great with a few small tweeks and I love it!

i would have given this five stars except the first day of using it the burn box door broke at the hinge with normal opening and closing. If it wasn't for that, I would love the smoker. I can still use it, but I just find that the weld was pretty weak to have broken that easily.

Poor welding.

So a few years ago I had the two door propane smoker w/out the window. With a minor adjustment (foil in chip pan for no flare ups) I really liked that smoker. When I saw this one I was like "Heck" yeah, my old one with a window in it, and a few more options like the awesome thermostat that works very well and the nice tank gauge. So I asked for it and got it for Xmas. Heres where it all goes a tick down hill... The assembly instructions weren't that great, and the top door isn't level. Ok not that big of a deal, right! So I followed the instructions, and seasoned the smoker, while doing so I wanted to "test it out" lets see how much smoke I can roll outta this thing! Problem is.... it didn't hardly smoke at all the FIRST HOUR thats kinda big deal when it comes to smoking stuff and the timing of it all. So I toyed around with it and got it to work for the first pork shoulder I smoked. BUTTT yet again, I had to do a few adjustments to the equipment. The old style chip pan was huge and had holes in it, almost worked too good. The newly designed chip pan is almost the exact opposite! The pork shoulder turned out good and this thing will do me good for a few years, just wish we didn't have to tweak these things to make them work as they should.

Just a tad disappointed

the smoker does fine with cooking. The only  complaint i have is that when the box arrived it appeared that it might have gotten drop out of a airplane or truck during shipment. The door was dented very severely just glad the glass didn't break.

says its takes 35 minutes to put together. I'm on hour 4 now.  pieces cam banged up, screws dont fit flush.  I cannot get the ingitor set in pace because it curves but the spot where its supposed to go is straight.  parts are not labeded at all, and so many look alike you havr to draw a digram to be sure you have the right part.  I'm about ready to return this.
