Great tool, powerful, long lasting battery, light weight, and easy to use. De Walt never disappoints .

walmart.com

I just used my new pole saw and was VERY impressed. If you are looking to cut down large trees don't buy this tool. It does a great job on eight inch trees and limbs. It ran great, cut wonderfully. Easy assembly and easy to add in the extra extension. Great tool!

Amazing tool

dewalt.com

I bought it, and finally got to use it today. Mind, you this is not a small residential lot, I have a substantial amount of property, and was clearing an area so I can get the tractor in there to mow. This saw cut everything I asked it to. It was not only good for cutting high stuff, but also great at reaching in to cut low stuff at the ground, like thorn bushes and honeysuckle. I probably used it nearly non-stop for 2-3 hours and the battery was still not dead. I read reviews of it being under powered or stalling, I did not experience any of that. The only time I would "stall" is if I already had it in a bind when I first pulled the trigger.

An awesome tool!, no complaints

Product works flawlessly for a single season and then you're buying a new one. The saw head does not stand up to any kind of wear and tear. Mine was used for home maintenance only with no commercial or job site use. The batteries and power of the 20V XR system is incredible.

Very disposable piece of equipment

I don't use it a lot I don't like it with the third section in because it bows

This worked well initially. However, now that I have had for some time I have noticed a few problems and safety concerns. First problem is it leaks oil very badly. The oil runs down the shaft while pruning and the shaft and your hands become slippery making it hard to control. Second problem is controlling the weight once you make the cut and have all the weight hanging out of plumb. If it came with a auxiliary handle for the shaft like a string trimmer that was adjustable this would help with the head weight and control of the unit. Third problem would be the trigger. Very hard to activate from most positions experienced in pruning. Forth problem was that without being able to control the weight and remove the unit efficiently, after the cut the unit gets trapped in the cut and the shaft has bent in two places. Over time I believe the shaft will become damaged beyond useability or break completely in to.

I liked it, BUT.

I've gotten a lot of use out of this tool, but I encountered a problem many others apparently have had - that the saw will simply stop mid-cut, and often, after a period of use.

This got "solved" by using a 60V flex-volt battery instead of the usual 5Ah 20s that I have lying around. Just like that, no more stalls or stops.

It's lightweight - a good thing, but I managed to dent/bend the lower pole during my adventures with a very tall holly tree, so durability is the tradeoff for light weight.

Good tool, with a caveat.

I have dozens of Dewalt products.
The pole saw is very disappointing. The chain does not stay on the guide and it is with great difficulty to get the chain on. The guide teeth on the chain are pointed in different directions rather than running in a straight line. Or is this the new way of chains? Returning it for another brand.

Had been looking at the 60V flex and 20V chainsaw. Don't think I'll risk it.

Disappointing

My experience for the very 1st hour of using this cordless pole saw use was a "5". After that I experienced a trigger and/or an electrical problem causing increased unpredictability/hesitancy in getting the trigger to activate the saw blade. I reassembled the pole joints 5 + times thinking the screw connector pins were loose or had some debris in them; I next made sure the battery was recharged, I even purchased a new 20 V 5amp battery- still no major improvement.
I cleaned the bar and chain assembly completely too with out improvement.
By the end of the second hour, ~ every 10th trigger pull, would get the blade to move.
Yes, I re - re assembled the pole connections several more times (extremely easy to screw arrowed connections together), used compressed air to blow out the connectors too.
I am thinking 1 of the pole connector pins is loose , broken or wiring at trigger or in poles has failed.☹

Great, but only for the 1st hour of use

Dewalt

I bought this yesterday, came home put it together and what a treat! I expected more from this manufacture; I haven't purchased since buying an expensive drill a few years back and have one battery fail in 120 days and the other one just seven months in. Needed a pole saw for the farm and business I own. So, off I go and came home with this unit from where I buy nearly everything. A few years ago I crushed one of my hands; still very sensitive and sometimes a problem. I was going to go trim a few limbs on a tree outside my home. I put it together and lifted it from the floor when the head dropped several inches. Some flex is good; but, what I saw was extreme and I thought I put it together wrong. So, to the instructions I went once again; I did it a second time same results. All I can say is the flex is not acceptable and I was quite frustrated so I googled the reviews and found a youtube review addressing this same issue. Your design may work; however, the execution is sub standard. Running a pole saw is dangerous; but, your execution results in a saw that flexes more than reasonable. Moreover the box states 15 foot reach; does not qualify the reach is about 10 feet and a 6 foot standing human may be able to reach 15 feet. The flex is so great as it may in a short time impact the tools ability to perform. Moreover, while I take care of my tools, I use them and I have concerns even to haul it in my eight foot farm trailer to bounce around. I employ farm workers so having what I consider a flawed tool is not reasonable. I did not even try it out I put it back in the box and am returning it. I consider this extremely low quality and this was DeWalts last chance with me. I will never buy one of your tools again!

Poor Quality Pole Saw Flexes Like It Is Broken!

Max XR Cordless Pole Saw, Brushless Motor, 8-In. Bar, 20-Volt front-facing telescoping cordless pole saw with yellow-and-black housing, 8-inch bar and exposed chain at the angled head, silver extendable pole and black shaft, rear 20V battery pack and pistol grip with trigger, tree hook and visible auto-oiling port — for pruning and overhead trimming with a telescoping shaft for extended reach; often used for trimming tall hedges.
